The theme of this release activity is "rivers, lakes and seas have fish every year", "conserve aquatic biological resources to promote the construction of ecological civilization", "conserve aquatic biological resources and promote the green development of fisheries".
The "6.6 Fujian Fish Release Day" breeding and stocking activity is a national linkage activity advocated by the Ministry of Agriculture to protect aquatic biological resources, and is also an important part of the 2021 Straits (Fuzhou) Fishery Week.
On the day of the event, Fuzhou stocked about 400,000 silver carp and bighead carp into the Minjiang River. In order to promote the sustainable development of fisheries on both sides of the strait and jointly conserve fishery resources on both sides of the strait, in the near future, we will also hold cross-strait breeding and stocking activities in the Rong-Ma sea, releasing 2 million fry such as flower perch and yellow croaker.
On the 6th, an ecological compensation breeding and stocking activity was also held in Luoyuan Bay, with more than 10 million real seabream being released into the sea area and more than 50 million sand silkworms released into the mudflats of Niukeng Bay.
It is understood that since 2013, the Fuzhou Municipal Bureau of Oceanography and Fisheries, together with relevant people on both sides of the Strait, has stocked nearly 5.5 billion fry (grains) of various types in the Taiwan Strait, the Minjiang River Basin, Luoyuan Bay, Huangqi Peninsula, Xinghua Bay and other waters, and released more than 20 kinds of fry, including silver carp, bighead carp, giant yellow croaker, flower sea bass, true seabream, black seabream, Japanese shrimp, double-lined purple clam, Xishi tongue, Philippine clam, mud easter snail and so on. Through the development of breeding and stocking, aquatic biological resources have been effectively restored and developed, and the ecological environment of the water area has been well maintained, and the vast number of fishermen have also benefited from it.
Weng Zutong, senior engineer of Fujian Aquatic Technology Extension Station, said that the enhancement and stocking of fishery resources is an important measure to restore fishery resources and protect aquatic biodiversity, and it is also an important way to improve the ecological environment of water areas and promote the sustainable development of fisheries.
