On January 7, 2016, Mai Fukagawa announced her graduation on her blog, and on the 1st of the following month, Nogizaka 46 announced the selection list of the 14th single on the variety show "Nogisaka Fortifications", Fukagawa made her first solo as a group single, and "When spring aster bloomed" became her last single in Nogisaka 46.

On June 16, 2016, Nogisaka 46 held the "Nogisaka 46 Midsummer National Tour 2016 Fukagawa Mai Graduation Concert" at Ecopa ARENA In Shizuoka, which is also the hometown of Fukagawa, and after this concert, Fukagawa Mai officially graduated from Nogisaka 46.
