Former Lakers player Lamar Odom revealed that he was in debt for gambling and had sought Kobe Bryant's help as a result.
"I've been gambling, I have an old debt, and for my situation at the time, the money was a bit too much, it was getting harder and harder, and if you were in a bad situation, especially if it was about money, you wouldn't want to call Kobe." Odom said.
Mr. Odom did not disclose the amount he owed, but he admitted to calling Bryant out of desperation, saying he criticized him but ultimately helped.
"Bryant said at the time, 'Let your people call my people and we'll see what to do.'" It was one of my last few conversations with him. Odom said.
Odom did not say whether Bryant gave him that money before his death, and Odom said he missed Kobe every day and thanked Kobe for teaching him a lot of valuable experience on and off the court.
