Marvel drama "Ms. Marvel" should have been produced at present, after the series was released in Thailand in May this year, the studio has been stepping up the post-production work non-stop, originally planned to release it at the end of this year, but Kevin Feige suddenly said in September that due to too many film and television works released in 2021, the series was changed to be launched in 2022. Since this series will directly affect the movie "Captain Marvel 2" released in 2023, even if it is launched in 2022, it will not have a very obvious impact on the viewing of Marvel's subsequent works.

The series is part of the Marvel cinematic Phase 4 productions, and the teenage superhero "Kamala Kehan", played by Iman Vellani, is one of the most anticipated newcomers to Phase 4. After her solo episodes are completed, Ms. Marvel will collaborate with Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) and "Spectrum" Monica Lambo (Tyna Paris) in marvel films.
Disney+ will change Ms. Marvel's setting in the MCU.
Although Ms. Marvel has only recently joined Marvel's superhero library, she is already a well-known character as early as the time Of Captain Marvel debuted, and even ordinary Marvel fans can recognize this superhero character by appearance. Due to her popularity in the comics and her overall importance to the Marvel Universe, there have been many people who have expected Marvel to adapt her character to the MCU, including her backstory, personality, costumes, and of course, her abilities. Some of the promotional works from the Phase 4 series have confirmed that Ms. Marvel maintains a comic book style in appearance, but that doesn't mean the MCU won't adapt her superpowers. Following the practice of Marvel movies, in order to ensure that the story conforms to the characteristics of the MCU, the character may retain most of its core elements in the comics in the MCU, but it is unlikely to copy her superpowers.
It's not surprising that Marvel introduced MCU characters with a combination of factors in mind to change a hero's superpowers. Previously, when I introduced the movie "Eternals", I specifically analyzed the MCU's ability to modify the characters, and their superpowers were redesigned almost entirely according to the needs of the movie universe, and many Eternal heroes even lost the special weapons they had in the comics in the movie.
However, for Ms. Marvel, the situation may be slightly different, she is more well-known in the comics than the Eternals, which will give the MCU less room for adaptation, and Marvel has to consider the feelings of those comic fans when adapting. That being said, that doesn't entirely prevent Disney's producers from doing a lot of free play on her superpowers and the way she manifests her. Here's how Ms. Marvel is in the comics, how it differs in Marvel Studios, and why the MCU needs to adapt her original abilities.
Ms. Marvel's superpowers in Marvel Comics
In marvel comics, Kamala Khan is an ordinary teenager who, due to her own potential Inhuman ancestry, turns into an Inhuman when she is exposed to the fog of Terrigan. Similar to mutants, this human subspecies created by genetic experiments with the Kree usually possesses at least one superpower. When Kamala Khan experienced this mutation, she gained the ability to transform herself at will, and she was able to stretch her body in almost any way imaginable. And the most common way she uses this superpower is to make her fists big enough so that she can strike her opponents with immense force.
Usually in the comics, Camara can be seen changing the size of her fists in battle, but this is far from her only inhuman level. She can also adapt the size of her entire body at will, which is somewhat similar to Ant-Man's ability to change size. In addition, her ability to deform allows her to completely change her body structure, hair, and even facial features, which is useful in disguise, and this ability is a bit similar to the X-Men Demon Woman. Another ability of Ms. Marvel in comic books is self-healing ability. Since Ms. Marvel does not have super durability, this weakness makes her vulnerable to fatal injuries, but her rapid healing factor can repair most wounds. And if she suffers serious injuries while "getting bigger", she can recover effectively as long as she returns to normal. So this self-healing ability is like Wolverine in X-Men.
How MCU is changing Ms. Marvel's abilities
Some of The Wonder's promotional posters show her giant fist, which is very similar to the crystal material. At first glance, the big hand looks like Kamala's punch after "amplifying" his fist, but a closer look reveals that the way this ability is used in the comics is very different from what is shown in the pictures. Her hand and fist are separated, and the fist similar to the crystal structure looks more like a "glove", suggesting that Ms. Marvel may have acquired some kind of "fist" weapon.
If this assumption is true, it means that the Marvel Cinematic Universe may abandon the stretching ability in comics when it introduces Ms. Marvel, in favor of technology or superpowers based on energy release. Because it is speculated that the weapon used by Kamala in Ms. Marvel will be generated by the powerful bracelet worn by the original Captain Marvel, which may be the crystal-like "fist" that Kamala wears on his left wrist in the new work.
Kamala's superpowers in the MCU are derived from the Kree's energy bracelet, which is not surprising. This hint can be found in the various character concept maps released before the actor who has previously determined this role, and there have been long rumors about this superpower adaptation of Ms. Marvel. Now that the live-action actor's promotional image may confirm the veracity of the rumors, more information is becoming more and more apparent as the series is about to be released, and it becomes increasingly apparent that Ms. Marvel does possess Green Lantern-like powers, and that her abilities come from the energy of the equipment. As for her healing ability, it will also depend on whether the Energy Bracelet is set to have the energy to repair her body. So from the current information, the Ms. Marvel superpower in the MCU may only come from alien technology, and the teen superhero may not have any superpowers from himself, and there is no mutation in the plot.
Why the MCU wants to change Ms. Marvel's abilities
For Marvel, there must be a good reason to make such a huge adaptation of a character that is loved by comic book fans. One possible motivation is special effects, and while both her "big fist" attack and the character's hand can be done with CGI, it would have been easier to take the Green Lantern route. There's also the question of whether her abilities will fit in conjunction with those of other superheroes in Captain Marvel 2. Both Captain Marvel and "Spectrum" Monica Rambo rely on high-energy energy attacks. If Ms. Marvel's abilities are very different from their performances, will the scene look ugly when she fights alongside Carol and Monica?
On the other hand, by narrowing camara's superpower distance with Carol and Monica, then the Marvel Cinematic Universe can distinguish her from Mr. Fantastic's superpower at the same time, otherwise this deformation ability in the comics is almost the same as that of Mr. Fantastic. Reed Richards hasn't appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe yet, but according to the Phase 4 plan, he will soon show up because Fantastic Four is in the works. Both characters have the same elastic deformation ability, and the possibility that both characters have the same superpowers should not appear in the MCU.
In addition, Marvel may not be ready to include the Inhumans in the MCU, if the appearance of Ms. Marvel with the origin of the "Inhumans" as a story, which will invisibly open up a whole new world for the "Inhumans" in the MCU settings, and this needs to consider some of the settings in the TV series "Inhumans" that have failed on ABC Television, which will undoubtedly add additional complicated work to the MCU, and now Marvel does not have the energy to do these processes, and it is completely unnecessary. So replacing the Inhumans with the Kree's "Energy Bracelet" now replacing the Aliens with the Terrigan Mists may be a better solution to the problem of the character's origins.
