On January 19, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs received a report from the China Center for Animal Disease Prevention and Control, and the national avian influenza reference laboratory confirmed that a wild swan H5N8 subtype of highly pathogenic avian influenza occurred at the Dawenliu Management Station of the Yellow River Delta Nature Reserve in Dongying City. There were 249 wild birds inhabiting the epidemic site, with 35 cases and 35 deaths. After the outbreak of the epidemic, the local emergency response mechanism was immediately activated, emergency disposal work was carried out, the surrounding environment was disinfected, and all sick and dead wild birds have been harmlessly treated.
