People's Daily Beijing, October 26 (Reporter Wang Lianxiang) According to the statistical analysis of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in September 2021, passenger car sales showed a significant increase compared with August, but due to the higher base in the same period, the year-on-year decline has expanded.

Specifically, in September, passenger car production and sales reached 1.767 million units and 1.751 million units, up 18.1% and 12.8% month-on-month, down 13.9% and 16.5% year-on-year, respectively, and the decline was 2 and 4.8 percentage points wider than in August. From January to September this year, production and sales of passenger cars totaled 14.658 million units and 14.862 million units, up 10.7% and 11% year-on-year, respectively, and production and sales decreased by 2.9% and 2.7% year-on-year, respectively, compared with the same period in 2019.

In September this year, domestic luxury cars were affected by the shortage of chips, with sales of 254,000 units, down 14.5% year-on-year, and the decline continued to be too large than the previous month, but it was better than the overall level of passenger cars. From January to September this year, the sales volume of luxury cars produced in China reached 2.489 million units, an increase of 22.8% year-on-year, which was 11.8 percentage points higher than the cumulative growth rate of passenger cars.
