Forever 42

The Road to Financial Freedom 74

-----------------

During the day, I watched a movie on the plane, "Forever 42", which told the story of Robinson, a black man, in the Big Professional League.

In those days, blacks couldn't go to the white toilet, let alone go into major leagues to play. Robinson was filled with invective in the audience every time he played, and there were even police officers who went to the arena to drive him away during the game.

How will many people in life respond to similar problems? Not to mention the insults, many people are scared to pee their pants when someone objects to it. Robinson, how did he respond? He said: "You have to use your achievements and scores to tell them that retreating can only prove that you are afraid of failure and timid and cowardly." ”

In the movie, when a team member received a threatening letter to the boss to give up the game, the boss turned out a whole stack of thick threatening letters to Robinson in the bookcase, Robinson was constantly harassed, and many people even threatened to shoot him. In the movie, however, all you see is his firm and silent face and the home run that struggles to fight back.

What impressed me the most about the whole film was the sentence: "It is precisely because of those painful and arduous processes that the ultimate excitement is so impressive and touching." ”

The audience saw a strong sense of faith and courage in Robinson. In 1997, the 50th anniversary of Robinson's entry into Major League Baseball, all Major League teams had his name embroidered on their uniforms — because of his outstanding contribution, all Major League teams retired the Number 42 jersey, and all new players from all teams were no longer allowed to use the back number — an unprecedented feat in professional sports, and since 2004, April 15 has been designated "Robinson Day" every year.

So he's not just a great player anymore: it's not just his skills, it's his spirit that re-energizes baseball and gives people a new perspective on racial issues.

Later in the film there are many wonderful plots, and his boss says: "From today on, you are the hero of all black children." And the white kid began to imitate her percussion movements, the white audience began to cheer for him, and the teammates who had written together to make him roll finally reached out to him to accept and welcome his presence.

There is also a scene in which Robinson says to everyone in front of all the people in his hometown, "I want them to know my attitude." It was because of his strong faith and perseverance that he thus created a different era from history, and he finally did it.

In the crucial battle for the title, when his opponent scolded him, he calmly and smilingly asked the white pitcher, "What are you afraid of?" What are you afraid of? "I felt my blood boiling when I saw this moment – he already had that courage! But he didn't even dare to wash with his teammates in the shower at first, and now the person he was afraid of was no longer him, and he finally dared to face others and himself.

After watching this film, you can understand more deeply a passage by former US President Calvin Coolidge, who said: There is nothing in the world that can replace tenacity - talent cannot be replaced, it is not uncommon for people who are outstanding and unsuccessful; talent cannot be, fruitless talent is everywhere; education cannot be, the world's educated and inaction are everywhere - only perseverance and perseverance are omnipotent.

I highly recommend that you take the time to take a good look at this film: Legend 42 and feel the legendary life forged by tenacity and courage.
