On October 26, Ambassador Qin Gang was invited to attend the 2021 Annual Meeting and Global Manufacturing Summit of the Chicago Branch of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and delivered a speech. Wang Shouwen, Deputy Secretary of Commerce and Deputy Representative for International Trade Negotiations, Governor Ibers of Wisconsin, Governor Polis of Colorado, Governor Of Arkansas Hutchinson, Governor of Ohio De Wane, Deputy Governor of Kansas Toland, and Mayor of Chicago, Lightford, also delivered video messages to the annual meeting. More than 200 people attended the meeting online, including Huang Liming, acting consul general of the Consulate General in Chicago, governments and business people from the midwest states and relevant provinces and cities in China.

Ambassador Qin Gang said in his speech that economic and trade cooperation has always been the ballast stone and propeller of Sino-US relations. Sino-US relations are currently undergoing a new round of run-in adjustment, and it is hoped that economic and trade cooperation will also become the lubricant and stabilizer of Sino-US relations. The successful holding of the annual meeting conveys the strong desire of the industrial and commercial circles of China and the United States to continue to promote economic and trade cooperation. The economic structures of China and the United States are deeply complementary and their interests are deeply intertwined. Whether it is to deal with the challenges brought about by the current global industrial chain and supply chain disorder, or to promote the recovery of the global economy after the epidemic, China and the United States need to work together and coordinate and cooperate. As always, China welcomes US enterprises to increase investment in China, will continue to expand opening up, and continue to create a market-oriented, rule-of-law and international business environment. U.S. enterprises are welcome to continue to actively participate in the 4th China International Import Expo. It is hoped that the US side will also remove restrictions and obstacles for enterprises of the two countries to cooperate and provide a fair and just investment environment for Chinese enterprises.

At the meeting, the relevant local governments of China and the United States introduced their respective investment environments. The participants had an in-depth exchange on the digitalization and innovation of the manufacturing industry, the development trend and challenges of the global supply chain. The meeting also heard reports on the business environment investigation of Chinese-funded enterprises in the United States and Enterprises in China.
