Detailed interpretation of Zheng Chuang's song "Who Am I"

Hello readers, I am obscure and it is a pleasure to meet you here. Today I would like to share with you my understanding of the song "Who Am I".

I believe that most of you learned about this song from the variety show "Do You Listen to My Music" and recognized Zheng Chuang as a person.

In the first issue of "Do You Listen to My Music", Zheng Chuang, as a contestant, competes with Wang Zhenghao (volume) of the same contestant for the AB side seat (the highest scorer is the A side, and vice versa, please watch the program for the detailed rules of the B side).

After Wang Zhenghao sang the song "Want to Say", Zheng Chuang, who also came from the band, was selected as a competitor. Different from the previous Wang Zhenghao singing songs with a relaxed and cheerful tune, as well as the lines that are directly lyrical to the chest. Zheng Chuang's "Who Am I" lyrics are very stream-of-consciousness, and the lines seem loose and chaotic, but a closer look will find that the sentences are actually closely related.

Let's take a look at the charm of this song!

Detailed interpretation of Zheng Chuang's song "Who Am I"

"The crooked moon is like a pillow

There's a microphone from the south

Just who was calling me

The sun was rising again outside

Look down and play with the little stones

When you are hungry, find milk to drink

Sit on with the TV on

Mom called me to sleep again."

The song begins with a bland narrative style, and the first sentence "The crooked moon is like a pillow" illustrates that "I" fell asleep. The scene described later is what I thought in the dream, and also paved the way for the "awakening" below.

The microphone in the second sentence indicates that "I" have embarked on the path of music.

The other six sentences describe the day from "I" getting up to going to bed.

"That day I was stoned on the head by Zhang Admiration

When I woke up, I forgot who I was

Turned into a four-year-old "

The lyrics of this part began to change, and the appearance of Zhang Admiration made the song go in an unexpected direction, but the mood of Zheng Chuang's singing was still flat, like recalling that "I" was stoned by Zhang Admiration, which also showed that the previous part described the experience of "I" when I was four years old.

As for who Zhang admires, I believe that everyone has a different opinion. According to my understanding, Zhang Admiration is "I" want to succeed, and "I" am invaded by this desire and begin to lose myself.

"The acoustic guitar broke a string

Kittens look a bit like puppies

Where did my shoes go

Had another dream tonight."

This part of the lyrics is more interesting, if the first part is a fragmentary description of childhood time, then this part is an abstract description of "my" current situation.

"The acoustic guitar broke a string", indicating that "I" began to bottleneck or even go downhill in the musical path. And why are kittens a bit like puppies? Because "I" am no longer like myself in order to chase success. Shoes represent "my" musical path, "I" have fallen into confusion, do not know how to continue their own musical path. "I had another dream tonight", what dream? That's the question of the song in the back.

"Who am I

Who am I

Who am I?"

This part of the singing is still as calm as before, but the emotions in Zheng Chuang's voice are constantly stacking, and finally exploding in the final roar.

Four sentences of who am I, "I" am constantly asking myself, but also in the process of constantly asking, with that roar began to dissect myself.

I became a four-year-old

When I got home, I only recognized the bowl that served rice

That bowl, that bowl, that bowl."

At this point in the song, the previously stacked emotions have begun to explode. The lyrics and the repetition above highlight the previous confusion under Zheng Chuang's roar. "When I got home, I only recognized the bowl that served rice", indicating that "my" original intention was far from what "I" was doing now, but "I" still recognized the dream of "I" before.

The repetition of "That Bowl" three times, each time a roar that is more powerful and firm than the last, also pushes the song to a new climax.

"I" finally found "I" the original intention of making music, "I" found who I am!

"Passers-by say I'm a wild horse out of the reins

The child said I was a flying bird

Uncle said I was hanging the clock upside down

Mom said I was a flower that wouldn't wilt ."

"I" began to insist on myself, no longer losing my heart for success. "I" has no shackles and has become a wild horse in the eyes of passers-by, but at the same time I have freedom and become a bird in the eyes of children. Even though my relatives and friends thought I was walking backwards on the clock, getting farther and farther away from the success they wanted, my mother, who knew me, knew that I was rejuvenated and became a flower that would not wither.

"A small child

A small child

One by one, one by one, one by one

Don't ask me who I am."

At the end of the song, "a child" is repeatedly emphasized, which not only expresses that "I" finally found his original intention, but also expresses his joy of losing and regaining.

"Don't ask me who I am", the lyrics fall back to calm in the climax, and "I" don't have to ask who this is, because the answer to "I" has been found.

In general, Zheng Chuang's "Who Am I" is indeed a song worth listening to, whether it is the writing level of the lyrics, the performance ability of the scene and the emotional integration of Zheng Chuang are very well done, and it is also a relatively excellent work in the "Do You Listen to My Music" program.

Finally, this post is my thoughts on the song "Who Am I". People can't do everything, I'm not a roundworm in Zheng Chuang's stomach, and my understanding may be biased, so the above is just my personal opinion.
