Chongzuo City, located in the southwest of Guangxi, was established in August 2003 as an emerging city that developed with the launch of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, and is the youngest city in Guangxi. The city administers 7 counties (cities, districts), with a total area of 17,300 square kilometers and a total population of 2.52 million, and the Zhuang population accounts for 89.09% of the city's total population, which is the city with the highest proportion of Zhuang population in the country.
Chongzuo is China's southern gate, along the border, offshore, adjacent capital, connected to ASEAN, "open the door is Vietnam, take two steps into ASEAN", there are four counties (cities) bordering Vietnam, the border line is 533 kilometers long, there are 5 national first-class ports, 2 second-class ports, 14 border people mutual market trade points, is China's land port the most cities, is an important node city of the "Belt and Road" southbound passage. At present, it is the only prefecture-level city in Guangxi that enjoys the "three national strategies" of the Beibu Bay Economic Zone, the Pearl River-Xijiang Economic Belt, and the Old Revolutionary Zone of the Left and Right Rivers at the same time, and also has policy advantages such as opening up to the outside world, cross-border tourism cooperation zone, comprehensive bonded zone, border economic cooperation zone, border comprehensive financial reform pilot zone, border trade national inspection pilot zone and so on. In August 2016, the State Council approved the establishment of the Guangxi Pingxiang Key Development and Opening Pilot Zone, becoming the seventh and largest key development and opening pilot zone in China with the largest population.
Chongzuo is located in the resource-rich area of western Guizhou, is an important base of sugar and manganese industry, and is the "sugar capital of China", "the capital of manganese in China" and "the capital of mahogany in China". Manganese ore resources account for 19.41% of China's reserves, ranking first in the country, bauxite, rare earth, bentonite, iron ore and other mineral resources are also abundant. Chongzuo is a famous city of ecological tourism, the forest coverage rate is 54.92%, the world's rare animal white-headed langur lives in Chongzuo, is "the hometown of China's white-headed langur", "the hometown of China's kapok" and "national precious tree species cultivation demonstration city", won the title of "National Forest City", known as "Chongzuo World Beauty" reputation. The territory has the Zuojiang Huashan petroglyphs that were successfully listed as a world cultural heritage in July 2016, filling the gap of China's petroglyph world heritage, as well as the first transnational waterfall in Asia - Detian Waterfall, one of the nine famous passes in China, friendship pass and other famous attractions, is one of the four major tourist destinations in Guangxi.
