Pingdingshan Weidong District: Special hardship households move to a new home

Henan Economic Daily reporter Gina correspondent Yang Yuanqi

"I never imagined that this room had become two rooms, and I really thanked the party and the government for their care." On October 25, in Renzhai Village, Pucheng Street, Weidong District, a new house was built for Ren Fuling, a five-guarantee household, and everyone helped him clean the room while congratulating him.

That morning, 60-year-old Ren Fuling stood on crutches in his left hand and smiled outside the new house. Ren Fuling, who was born with a disability, worked in a caring enterprise in Weidong District a few years ago, but then the company closed down, and he lost the dependence on subsistence. Since January 2019, Ren Fuling has been included in the special hardship object of scattered support by the Weidong District Civil Affairs Bureau, and enjoys a special hardship support fund of 7500 yuan per year. For years, Ren Fuling has been living in a dilapidated bungalow where relatives are idle. In July this year, the city fell heavily, and when the staff of the Weidong District Civil Affairs Bureau visited the affected people, they found that the housing conditions of Ren fuling were very poor and there were potential safety hazards, so they urgently allocated special funds for disaster relief and built a concrete brick house of more than 10 square meters next to his old house, solving the housing problem of Ren Fuling.

Fan Jushan, a 76-year-old five-year-old wubao household in Renzhai Village, originally lived in a brick and tile house that was more than 60 years old, with dark and damp interior, heavy rain outside, and light rain inside the house. Today, he also lives in a new house of more than 10 square meters. Street office staff connected electricity to his new house and installed lights. "I used to be unable to sleep soundly when it rained, but now I can finally sleep peacefully." Fan Jushan said with a smile.

"Try the steamed bun that just came out of the pan, the child has just been burned." In XuCun, donggaohuang street, 85-year-old Lu Huarong said. The old woman has a third-degree physical disability, and her son Chen Honglai suffers from chronic diseases and can only work some odd jobs at the doorstep of her home to subsidize the family. Mother and son used to live in an old overgrown courtyard, the ground was sunken, often waterlogged, and the hall house was filled with a musty smell. Today, mother and son live in a "two-bedroom" with aluminum windows facing the road, and the interior is spacious and bright.

Zhang Hongjie, deputy director of the Weidong District Civil Affairs Bureau, said that during the flood season disaster visit and investigation this year, they identified a total of 21 special hardship households as housing assistance objects, allocated more than 360,000 yuan of special funds for disaster relief, and helped 10 special hardship households rebuild their houses and 11 households to renovate their houses.
