Fred VanVleet renewed his 4-year, 85 million contract with the Raptors.
According to Raptors reporter Michael Grange, VanVleet started at $21.25 million on his contract, took an 8 percent pay cut the following year (19.55 million), and then raised his salary.
The Raptors' move is to preserve more salary space in the 2021 offseason, which can save 1 million space in the summer of 2021 compared to normal incremental salary increase contracts.
