"European Kobe" Spanolis announced his retirement to end his 21-year career

Live Bar June 26 Today, former Rockets player & 38-year-old Greek star Spanolis announced his retirement, ending his 21-year career.

Known as the "European Kobe", Spanolis has spent most of his career playing in the Greek league, playing for teams such as Panathinakos and Olympiacos, and competing for european honors. In the NBA, Spann briefly played for the Rockets.

Spanolis represented the Greek men's basketball team at the 2005 European Championships (gold medal), the 2006 World Championships (silver medal) and the 2009 European Championships (bronze medal), and led the Greek men's basketball team to defeat the American Dream Team at the 2006 World Championships.
