How short is spring?
The data tells you the answer.
Seeing the weather heat up, do you think spring has passed? After all, in everyone's impression, spring flowers are fleeting - spring is the shortest season.
But the news of the wind and dust in the north and the rain in the south makes you wonder yourself: Is the spring that melts the ice and snow and is "full of purples and thousands of reds" gone, or has it not yet come? Is spring really so short?
The small data will tell you the answer with a set of data -
Is the seasonal distribution of major cities in the country consistent?
According to data from 1981 to 2010, among China's provincial capitals, There is no summer in Kunming in Yunnan, Xining in Qinghai, and Lhasa in Tibet; there is no winter in Fuzhou in Fujian, Guangzhou in Guangdong, Nanning in Guangxi, and Haikou in Hainan; and other cities have four distinct seasons.
But even in Kunming, where spring is the longest, spring length accounts for 37.81% of the whole year, losing to 43.01% of autumn. In Changchun, Jilin Province, where the spring is shorter, the length of spring accounts for 16.39% of the whole year, but this proportion is greater than that of summer and autumn, and the latter two account for 15.03% of the annual length; but the length of the three seasons of spring, summer and autumn is added up, which cannot withstand a "winter".
Therefore, the seasonal distribution of major cities in the country is different. The answer to the question of whether spring is the shortest season varies from place to place.
Twice as spring
China is vast and has different climates, east, west, south, and north. But most springs in the south are longer than springs in the north. Ranked by the number of spring days, the top five, Yunnan Kunming and Guizhou Guiyang in the southwest, Fujian Fuzhou, Guangdong Guangzhou and Guangxi Nanning in china's southern coast.
Spring in the south also always comes earlier. Because it's green all year round, southerners may overlook the arrival of spring. But there will always be a time when the day gets longer, the sun shines warmly on the body, the trees sprout new shoots, and the flowers are budding.
Spring in the north is different, from the buds that break through the soil, to the greenery in the field of vision, all the changes in spring are very obvious, and they can see people's eyes.
Kunming in Yunnan, Fuzhou in Fujian, Guangzhou in Guangdong, Nanning in Guangxi, and Guiyang in Guizhou have the most spring days, and their spring length is almost twice that of Beijing, Shijiazhuang in Hebei, Jinan in Shandong, Tianjin and Lhasa in Tibet. The climate gives different cities such different seasonal resources.
Autumn is the shortest season
Going back to our original question, is spring the shortest season?
Based on the number of days in each major city, we figured out the average number of days in each season. The answer is: spring is not the shortest season, autumn is!
Does spring start earlier?
The calendar above shows some dates in March and April
Taking Beijing as an example, since the historical record, the latest spring entry time in Beijing is April 18, 1979, and the earliest spring entry date is March 9, 2002.
In the last century, in the 1950s and 1960s, Beijing entered the spring on April 2; in the 1970s, Beijing entered the spring on April 6; and in the 1980s and 1990s, the spring dates entered March, march 31 and March 28, respectively. In the 21st century, the spring dates of the 1900s and 10s were again advanced to March 23 and March 21.
This year, Beijing officially entered the spring on March 22, which was later than last year's spring entry time (March 15), but it was still 8 days earlier than the same period of the year.

The geographical names in this chart consist of the names of provinces and the names of representative sites of provincial capitals, excluding Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
