Recently, in a letter written to their parents by the Dongguan detachment of the Armed Police, Zhang Weiyu, a "second generation of the army" from Yingtan, Jiangxi, "confessed" to his father, who was also a soldier. Although the words "I love you" are not seen in the letter, every word is full of father-son affection and family and country feelings. In the reply letter from his parents to him, he also expressed his sincere expectations, "I hope that you can unite your comrades-in-arms, listen to the words of the squad leader, cooperate with the leadership work, and become a qualified armed police soldier." ”
Since childhood, he has been full of yearning for military life
Zhang Weiyu is a new soldier in the Dongguan detachment of the Armed Police force in September this year, and his father is a veteran with more than a decade of military experience.
Talking about his father Lao Zhang, Zhang Weiyu recalled his childhood time. "When I was a child, he always had a stereotypical and stern image in front of me, and every time I was mischievous, I always had a beating. At that time, I wondered why other children were living freely, and there were so many rules in our family. ”
But Zhang Weiyu also admitted that he was indeed under the influence of his father and had been full of yearning for military life since he was a child. "Over the years, I have always seen Lao Zhang turn out the epaulettes and collar flowers he once wore, and the old military uniform hanging in the corner of the wardrobe, although the cuffs are a little rough, but still straight. He always hangs on his lips, and it is also the days when he was a soldier. ”
After graduating from high school, Zhang Weiyu signed up for the recruitment experience, but was not selected due to physical reasons. This year, he signed up again, "I want to be like Lao Zhang and become a glorious soldier." In the end, in early September this year, he finally entered the barracks as he wished.
The son of a soldier cannot be worse than anyone else
After enlisting, Zhang Weiyu actively participated in recruit training. Due to the fat body shape, weak physical fitness, it is difficult to keep up with the rhythm of training, in order not to drag his legs, he secretly gave himself "extra exercises". When others pull three groups on the horizontal bar, he pulls five groups; others run three thousand meters, he runs five kilometers; others rest after the lights go out at night, and he still practices physical fitness in bed. Less than two months into the army, the weight lost about 15 pounds. The squad leader was afraid that he was too hard, but he smiled and said, "I am the son of a soldier, and I can't be worse than others." ”
When the recruit company organized the recruits to write a letter to their families collectively, Zhang Weiyu wrote in the letter: "Dad, I can never forget the tears in your eyes when I put on the brand-new military uniform and stepped on the southbound military column. ”

A few thin pieces of paper condensed the enthusiasm of fathers and sons for serving the country for two generations. Although born in different eras, they are equally engaged in great causes, carrying the same ideals and guarding the same land.
