Tongxiang City, Zhejiang Province is one of the important sericulture producing areas in China and has a long history of sericulture production. Recently, local silkworm farmers have welcomed the harvest season, and the new cocoon species "Golden Cocoon" has also produced gratifying results. "Golden cocoon" color is golden, silk is light gold, and the silk products processed with it are favored by domestic and foreign markets.
In the spring of 2021, Tongxiang City issued a total of nearly 400 golden silkworm cocoon seeds, with an estimated output of 25 tons and a total output value of nearly 1.35 million yuan, an increase of about 17% compared with ordinary silkworm cocoons, becoming one of the models of local traditional agricultural upgrading and farmers' income.
In recent years, Tongxiang City has adopted the model of "enterprise order + cooperative + farmer" to increase agricultural efficiency and increase farmers' income. Sericulture cooperatives combined with the development and introduction of new varieties to achieve the transformation and upgrading of traditional agriculture, starting with the successful scale of "golden cocoon" samples, gradually developed a number of new varieties of sericulture mulberry, to achieve product diversification and enhance the added value of products.
