On October 27, 1998, Weihe Demonstration Farm, the first commercial demonstration farm in China established in friendly cooperation with the Government of Israel, was opened in Weifang Agricultural High-tech Industrial Development Zone. The field is planned to cover an area of 1,050 acres, with a total investment of 4.25 million US dollars, and has now built 200 mu with an investment of 2.15 million US dollars. The farm mainly produces and sells flowers, vegetables, fruits, seedlings and so on. Israeli Ambassador to China Nan Yueming, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Shandong Province Wu Zhongshu, and Municipal Leaders Cao Xuecheng, Wang Boxiang and Li Shouyu attended the opening ceremony.
