Recently, when the reporter was interviewing in the front sea of Taiping Cape, he observed that there were many toads living in many puddles in the reef piles on the seashore, and after the warm weather, these toads began to be busy with the "Hope Project", and the small black beads lined up in the long linear belt were the eggs of the toads, and a few meters away was the sea water that the waves kept pouring into the reef. According to common sense, the tide rises and falls, the water in the puddles in these reefs should be seawater, and toads can actually survive and reproduce in the seawater? Recall that during the coldest winter in January this year, the sea water along the front sea line of the island city, including here, was frozen, and these puddles were also covered with ice, if the toads had been living here, where would they have been?

After Dr. Sun carefully observed the landform and tidal characteristics of the site, the first step was to determine whether the water in the puddles of these seaside reefs was seawater or fresh water. Dr. Sun used the salinity measuring instrument to measure in turn at the puddle, and found that the salinity of several puddles next to the sea was about 3.3%, which determined that this was the area covered by the rising tide of the seawater; but in the puddles of the seawater puddles one or two meters away, Dr. Sun used the salinity measuring instrument to learn that the salinity content of the water in these puddles was 0, and it was determined that these waters were freshwater, that is, the maximum position of the seawater rising tide was basically one or two meters apart from the freshwater puddles; at the same time, it was known by measuring the hardness of these waters, etc. These water quality is very good, close to our tap water value.

Since it is fresh water, where does all this fresh water near the sea come from? After Dr. Sun's careful observation, it was found that there were water stains on the uphill stones at these freshwater puddles, indicating that the water flowed down from here, and continued to follow the water stains upstream, and it was determined that these waters were flowing down from the mountain on the north side. The most surprising thing for Dr. Sun and the reporter was that in these freshwater puddles, mosquitoes were found, jie jue, which can be used as food for tadpoles, which are born to eat and are born in very good conditions. Tadpoles eating a tadpole is equivalent to eating a mosquito, so toads have been experts in catching insects since childhood.
