Remember the toad eggs of the front sea in Taiping Cape? They've grown into little tadpoles...

Peninsula all-media reporter Wang Bin

In early March, the reporter observed during an interview in Qianhai, Taiping Cape, that there were many toads living in many puddles in the seaside reef pile, and after the warm weather, these toads began to be busy with the "Hope Project", and the small black beads lined up in the long linear belt were the eggs of the toads, and a few meters away was the sea water that kept pouring into the reef. According to common sense, the tide rises and falls, the water in the puddles in these reefs should be seawater, and the toad can actually survive and reproduce in the seawater? Dr. Sun Zhibin of the Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences followed the reporter to the scene to find out: it turned out that the water at these puddles was the mountain spring water flowing down from the mountain, which gathered here to form the habitat of the toad, and the sea water could only reach a distance of one or two meters away from the toad's habitat at high tide; at the same time, the mosquito larvae - jie jue (jie jue) were found in these freshwater puddles, which can be used as food for tadpoles to form a complete biological chain.

On April 6, the reporter came to this reef by the sea again, and to the surprise, the toad eggs have become cute little tadpoles, gathering or swimming in the water; unfortunately, the fresh water in some puddles has dried up after being exposed to the sun, and the tadpoles inside have died in large areas. According to the growth process of small tadpoles, they will then grow two hind legs, two front legs, slowly remove their tails, and finally become small toads.
