Dabashan National Nature Reserve

Dabashan National Nature Reserve is located in Chengkou County, with a total area of 136017 hectares, of which the core area is 42614.1 hectares. The natural environment of the area is complex, the biota has an ancient origin, the ecosystem is complete, and it contains rich biological resources, which is a natural biological gene pool.
The abundance of biological species attracted a large number of Chinese and foreign researchers, and between 1891 and 1893, the French missionary Paul Farges collected more than 2,000 plant specimens in the area. Since the 1950s, Sichuan University, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Southwest University, Chongqing Museum of Natural History, Sichuan Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine and other units have successively collected and published a large number of biological species in the area, making it a famous source of model specimens in the subtropical and same latitude regions of the northern hemisphere.

In addition, Dabashan Nature Reserve is also a "refuge" for Quaternary glacial organisms, preserving many rare and endangered species. The special geographical location and rich biodiversity of Dabashan Nature Reserve make it one of the 17 key biodiversity conservation areas in China listed in the "China Biodiversity National Research Report", and it is also listed as one of the 233 hot ecological areas in the world identified by the World Wide Fund for Nature.
