There are always some opportunities that will change our attitude to life or the direction of life.
In May 2013, during a routine physical examination organized by the unit, Wang Ying was found to have a malignant thyroid tumor, and the loss of health made her soberly aware that the original dreams that were far away must be put on the agenda. Previously, she had been photographing birds at home and was eager to see birds abroad. In July, she received a generous bonus for bird shooting, and decided to use the money to travel at her own expense to south Africa to see and shoot birds.
She participated in the South African Wildlife Photography Tour. As a veteran "bird person", whenever the group members see a bird, they always have to ask her curiously: "What kind of bird is this, what bird is this?" "This bird is worth something, is kudzu worth?" "Ge" means "whether" in the Kunming dialect, and she is often ridiculed by these questions.
Due to the perennial bird shooting, Wang Ying is very good at dealing with birds. The wisdom of the birds themselves makes them estimate the safe distance with people, and within a safe distance of 30 to 50 meters, as long as people behave gently, the birds generally do not fly away quickly. Most of the group members are photography enthusiasts and lack the expertise to get along with birds. Whenever a bird is encountered, someone always makes a "shhh" sound that signals everyone not to speak, but the foreign birds can't understand these code words at all, and always scatter at the fastest speed, which makes Wang Ying miss a lot of opportunities to shoot birds.
There is a "bird uncle" in the group, whose enthusiasm for shooting birds is on a par with "Bird Sister", and especially likes to partner with "Bird Sister" to shoot "Bird Films". However, "Uncle Bird" is more than enthusiastic and inexperienced, and wherever "Uncle Bird" goes, the birds instantly flee. Sometimes in order to shoot birds, Uncle Bird will even make a move to grab the bird's tail and not let it escape, which makes the bird-loving "Bird Sister" very angry, which can be described as "one mountain is difficult to tolerate two birds", and they have erupted several quarrels. Painfully, "Bird Sister" finally decided to abandon "Uncle Bird" and act alone, since parting ways with "Bird Uncle", she really shot a lot of good "bird films". However, after the trip, her most impressive group friend was "Uncle Bird".

But, as her father said, "Shanxi people are not poor, they are just more able to live a life, they can come up with money at critical times, and really use money on the blade." Therefore, she was willing to buy 48,000 yuan of fuselage, 58,000 yuan of lenses, and spend 150,000 yuan to travel.
There is a saying in the anecdote: "People who can go to Antarctica are not fuel-saving lamps." "The implication is that Antarctica is the journey of the rich. Shortly after the end of the trip to South Africa, Wang Ying had the idea of going to the end of the world to see it, and received strong support from his family, especially his husband, who resolutely decided to sell the house and take out 150,000 yuan as a travel expense for Wang Ying's trip to Antarctica.
At the end of October, Wang Ying, as usual, set off with a camera and a change of clothes. When I arrived at the airport, I couldn't help but be stunned when I saw several large boxes of luggage of my group members: from rice cookers and water cookers, to souvenirs and tonics, to luxury to cosmetics and evening dresses. After arriving at the South Pole, when they stepped on a luxury yacht and sailed at sea, she realized the practical use of these things.
The yacht she was on passed through the West Wind Belt twice. Crazy waves lapped at the yacht unscrupulously, the hull shook as if it were about to disintegrate, and the unstable objects such as sofas and dining tables ran from one end to the other, which was simply a true reproduction of the classic scene of the famous movie "The Pianist at Sea".
The hardest part is the night, when your ears are filled with constantly flowing sounds. She grabbed the bed frame with both hands, but one accidentally fell from the bed to the ground and simply pulled off the mattress to sleep on the ground. In the panic of the possibility of overturning the ship at any time, she made a systematic review and combing of her life, and this alone made her feel worth the trip.
Everyone was seasick and couldn't eat. Wang Ying, who does not like to eat rice noodles in Yunnan, is very eager for a bowl of steaming rice noodles to soothe the stomach of the overturned river. The Hainan girl who shared a table with her cooked a pot of rice noodles (a kind of food similar to Yunnan rice noodles) brought from China with the cooking utensils she carried with her, and gave her a bowl, not forgetting to scoop a spoonful of "Lao GanMa" tempeh, which is called a fragrant! After eating, she didn't even get seasick.
At an abandoned whaling station in Antarctica, Wang Ying saw a large whale skull and wanted to take a group of commemorative photos. Suddenly, a skua swooped down and went straight to the whale skull, and from behind the skull it met a smaller skua, the larger one spitting out of its mouth, and the small one ate. Because it is an unfamiliar foreign bird, this warm scene makes Wang Ying mistakenly think that it is a "mother feeding a child", and the result is a joke. Originally, the big skua were males and the little skuas were females, and at the end of feeding, they mated, and then both bathed in the river.
