Tridax procumbens seeds
Sichuan online reporter Luo Zhiyi
Recently, Chengdu Customs affiliated to the post office customs intercepted 2 similar taro fresh plants from the incoming mail from Thailand, preliminarily screened out weed seeds and isolated a large number of live nematodes, identified by the Chengdu Customs Technical Center, weed seeds are Tridax procumbens, and nematodes are slippery blades and small rod nematodes. Among them, the plume was intercepted for the first time in Chengdu Guanqu District.
Pinus is a perennial herb of the family Asteraceae (Tridax), listed in the "List of Invasive Plants of China", belonging to the Class 2 severe invasive plants, native to tropical America, now distributed in North America, Oceania, Africa, South America, Asia and other countries and regions, in Taiwan and Yunnan. The weed often grows in low-altitude wilderness, wasteland, slope and roadside sun, often with coarse-leaved abundant flowers, dragon claw grass, four-year-old arm-shaped grass and other groups, growing most abundantly on dry or wet sandy ground, but also can grow well on various types of soil, extremely drought-tolerant, once colonized easy to spread into pieces, not only harm crops, affect yields, but also destroy biodiversity, reduce species richness.
It is reported that invasive alien organisms have become a hot spot of global concern, because of their strong ecological adaptability, strong reproductive capacity, easy to spread and proliferation, lack of natural enemies and other characteristics, seriously threaten agricultural and forestry production and ecological security, and bring great harm to local economies and society. In recent years, with the increasing frequency of international trade and the rapid heating up of tourism, invasive alien species have been continuously introduced into China with international trade in products, cross-border mailing, passenger carrying and other means.
The relevant person in charge of Chengdu Customs said that as the first barrier to prevent the invasion of foreign pests, the port has a heavy responsibility for quarantine control, and only by continuously improving the monitoring, early warning and rapid response mechanism of foreign pests and building a solid port defense line can the risk of invasion of foreign pests be controlled to the minimum. The interception is of great significance to the protection of Sichuan's agricultural and forestry production and ecological safety, and the mailings have been treated harmlessly.
