According to the comprehensive survey data of the resource status of Helan Mountain in Alxa League, 889 species of insect species in Helan Mountain increased, of which 20 species were discovered for the first time in the world; the species of wild vertebrates increased by 134 species; the number of macrofungal species increased by 62, and 1 new species of bacteria in the world was discovered. Up to now, all 13 projects of the comprehensive inspection of Helan Mountain, which lasted for 5 years, have been completed.
According to reports, since the establishment of the Helan Mountain National Nature Reserve in Inner Mongolia in 1992, it has not organized an effective and large-scale comprehensive investigation of resources, and the biodiversity in the reserve is not comprehensive enough, and the forest resources lack first-hand information. In 2010, Alxa League launched a comprehensive investigation of the resource status of Helan Mountain, including 13 items of wild animals, plants, vegetation, insects, and large fungi. Based on the contents and results of the expedition, the Protected Areas Authority plans to publish 6 books, 4 of which have already been published.
"Through the comprehensive investigation, analysis and evaluation of the resources of Helan Mountain, the natural resources of Helan Mountain are basically grasped, and comprehensive, accurate and detailed basic data and theoretical basis are provided for the construction, protection and management of the protected area."
