With the exception of a few, most desert horned vipers have "horns". These venomous desert vipers are found in the deserts of Africa and the Middle East.
The sharp-beaked snake is just the name, with a rhino horn-like bulge in its nose and mouth. Herpetologists aren't sure what the purpose of the horn is, but the proportion of the horn does distinguish the snake from other snakes on the rainforest's surface.
The spiral-shaped, two-horned Bukhara kudu goat is a coveted prey for trophy hunters, which is why the species is on the verge of extinction in South and Central Asia. Male Bukhara sheep can reach a double horn length of up to 1.6 meters.
Two horned sword-horned antelopes flaunt their long hard horns to each other. The ribbed horns of all curved-horned sword antelopes can grow to an impressive length of tens of centimeters. These desert antelopes roam the driest regions of Africa, sometimes not drinking a single sip of water for months.
"Hickory horn devil" is the larval stage of the walnut horn moth (also known as the monarch moth), one of the largest moths in North America. Although this prickly caterpillar has a fierce appearance, it is completely harmless. This caterpillar has four molting phases before metamorphosis. After the last molting period, a caterpillar with tubular horns with black tips will be born.
Male rainbow scarabs have a metallic color and disproportionate horns, which makes them extremely recognizable. Rainbow Scarabs use their horns to fight their opponents, but also to attract the opposite sex. The Rainbow Scarab is a cousin of the North American dung beetle with a higher appearance and a favorite of insect collectors.
