
Marcel Desailly (born 7 September 1968 in Accra, Ghana) is a former French male professional footballer who plays as a centre-back and representative of the French Football Association for Africa.
Desailly debuted in the youth camp of Nantes FC in France. In 1986, Desailly began his career with a promotion to the first team of Nantes, after which he played for Marseille F.C. in Ligue 1, AC Milan in Serie A, Chelsea F.C. in the Premier League, Sporting Galafa F.C. in Qatar and SC Qatar. [2] Desailly is one of the Grand Slam players in football who has won two UEFA Champions League titles, two Italian Football League titles, two European Super Cups, and one FA Cup in his career. In May 2006, Desailly announced his official retirement. In November 2017, Desailly won the Legend Award at the Golden Foot Awards.
From 1993 to 2004, Desailly made 116 appearances for the French men's national football team, scoring three goals, and has been the captain of the French national team since the end of Euro 2000,[8] participating in two World Cups (1998 and 2002), three European Championships (1996, 2000, 2004), and two FIFA Confederations Cups (2001, 2003), helping the French national team win the 1998 World Cup and the 2000 European Cup , 2001 and 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup winner.
