During the National Day period, extreme precipitation occurred in most parts of Shanxi, causing flash floods and geological disasters, and some rivers were in danger, and the flood control pressure was relatively large.

How much heavy rainfall was there in Shanxi? Why is it suddenly raining in October? What are the characteristics of this round of heavy rain? What do I need to pay attention to in the future? Experts from the China Meteorological Administration said that the rainfall process has the characteristics of large cumulative rainfall, long duration and outstanding extremes, and the precipitation in the early stage of the process is accompanied by lightning and strong convective weather, and the temperature drops sharply in the later stage and continues to decline, and it is necessary to continue to pay attention to preventing its adverse effects.
Why did it suddenly rain heavily in Shanxi?
Experts from the China Meteorological Administration said that there are three main reasons for the heavy precipitation:
First, the atmospheric circulation situation is stable. The abnormally strong western Pacific subtropical high pressure first extended westward and then stabilized in the Huanghuai area, and the low value system of the westerly wind belt formed a stable circulation situation of east high and west low in Shanxi, which was conducive to the occurrence of long-term precipitation weather in Shanxi.

Secondly, the water vapor conditions are abundant. The southerly currents on the west side of the subtropical high pressure and the low-layer southwest rapids transport water vapor from the South China Sea and the Bay of Bengal north through the southwest to the central and southern parts of Shanxi, providing an abundant source of water vapor for continuous precipitation in Shanxi.
Finally, the low-level lifting conditions are maintained for a long time. Under the stable weather situation, the low-layer shear line radiation system maintains for a long time and the precipitation echo repeatedly passes through central Shanxi, and the complex terrain of Lüliang Mountain and Taihang Mountain in Shanxi has an effect on the precipitation amplification of the easterly air flow, resulting in the occurrence of extreme heavy precipitation in central Shanxi and northern Linfen.
What are the characteristics and impacts of this rainstorm
First, the cumulative rainfall in Shanxi is large. From 20:00 on October 2 to 8:00 on October 7, the average precipitation in Shanxi Province reached 119.5 mm, the average precipitation in Taiyuan City was 185.6 mm, 18 counties (cities, districts) in the province had more than 200 mm of precipitation, and 51 counties (cities, districts) had precipitation between 100 and 200 mm, and the maximum cumulative precipitation was 285.2 mm.
Second, the duration of heavy rain is long. From 23:00 on October 2, the precipitation lasted for 4 days and ended at 23:00 on the 6th, and the strongest precipitation period appeared from the 4th to the 5th, and there were regional heavy rains in central Shanxi for two consecutive days.

Third, precipitation extremes are prominent. A total of 59 national meteorological observation stations in the province have exceeded the historical extremes of the same period since the establishment of the station, and the cumulative precipitation of 63 national meteorological observation stations has exceeded the historical extremes of the same period.
Finally, the heavy rains in Shanxi were accompanied by lightning, strong convection and cooling. The precipitation in the early stage of the heavy precipitation process is accompanied by lightning, and there is a short-term strong precipitation of 20 to 30 mm per hour, and the precipitation of the later 4 to 6 days is mainly maintained for a long time with a stable precipitation of less than 10 mm per hour, and the temperature drop continues to decline, and the average temperature in most parts of Shanxi in the early period drops by 8 °C ~ 10 °C.
Shanxi has made every effort to do a good job in flood prevention and disaster relief
Up to now, Shanxi has launched a provincial-level geological disaster level III emergency response and a provincial-level natural disaster relief level III emergency response, and has allocated 20 million yuan of provincial disaster relief funds to do a good job in flood prevention and disaster relief.
It is understood that during the National Day holiday, Shanxi Fire Department received a total of 386 flood rescues, 627 fire fighting vehicles, and 3801 rescue forces.
Transmission lines in parts of Shanxi were also affected by heavy rains. Li Jie, deputy director of the Transportation and Inspection Department of the Transmission and Maintenance Company of the State Grid Shanxi Electric Power Company, introduced that about 90 10 kV and 3.5 kV lines that were suspended within the power supply range of the State Grid in the province are seizing the time to repair. During the National Day holiday, Shanxi Electric Power dispatched a total of 7819 emergency repair personnel, 1893 emergency repair vehicles, 10 emergency power generation vehicles, and 44 emergency generators.
Affected by the rain, on October 6, the abutment of the Changyuanhe Bridge of the Nantongpu Railway in Qi County, Shanxi Province, was washed away, the sleepers were suspended, and the up-and-down lines were interrupted. After the emergency repair of China Railway Taiyuan Bureau Group Co., Ltd., the line resumed traffic on the evening of October 8.

Wang Maosheng, deputy director of the Shanxi Provincial Energy Bureau, introduced that a special class for energy supply assurance has been set up to ensure energy supply from all aspects.
On October 8, in the downhole of several hundred meters in the Tashan Mine of Jinneng Holding Coal Industry Group, Cao Minxing, a miner on duty, and others were fully organizing production. During the National Day holiday, Jinneng Holding Group requires all production units to organize production normally in accordance with the production operation plan under the premise of ensuring safety to ensure the smooth operation of production, external transportation and sales.
The torrential rains had a great impact on the counties and cities in the Fenhe Valley. "Pingchuan County and City in Shanxi are the main agricultural production areas in Shanxi, but the rain conditions lead to excessive soil moisture, and drainage and dispersion are the main tasks at present, and the purpose is to grab the harvest." Gu Yong, director of the Planting Industry Management Department of the Shanxi Agriculture and Rural Affairs Department, said that at present, Shanxi is making every effort to organize all kinds of machinery and mobilize the forces of all parties to dredge ditches and rush to drain the accumulated water in the fields, "for plots with suitable moisture conditions, do a good job in cross-regional operations of agricultural machinery; for plots with large soil moisture, when necessary, appropriately modify existing harvesters, and harvest when the sun is rushed; and organize and mobilize the masses to manually harvest plots with serious water accumulation in the fields." ”
Affected by the rain, flash floods occurred in many natural scenic spots, and in order to ensure safety, 166 scenic spots in Shanxi were closed. "The number of tourists received peaked in the first three days of the National Day holiday, and the last four days were affected by the rain, and the number of tourists gradually declined. At present, these scenic spots have been reopened one after another. Zhao Shuguang, deputy director of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Shanxi Province, introduced.
