In the play, the protagonist Yang Yaozhou, after graduating from college, went abroad with a mind to study for graduate school, and later reluctantly returned to Aba Prefecture to work because of his father's forced request. However, in the two years of poverty alleviation in Qiangzhai, he was gradually touched by the simple feelings of the people and the desire to change their destiny, and finally stayed behind, leading the villagers to embark on the road of pursuing their dreams.
At the beginning, the character of Yang Yaozhou actually reflects the ideas of some young people at present, who yearn for foreign countries and life in first-tier cities in the north, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, and regard it as the only destination to achieve their ideals. But I hope to tell young people through this character that no matter how the times change, if there is no country and people in a person's heart, no matter how grand the dream is, it will only be a castle in the air.
