Today (28th) afternoon, the "Sanxingdui Global Culture Promotion Conference" co-sponsored by the Information Office of the State Council, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, and the Sichuan Provincial People's Government was held outside the archaeological greenhouse of the Guanghan Sanxingdui site. The promotion meeting announced the latest excavation progress of the six sacrificial pits at the Sanxingdui site.
Up to now, 6 Sanxingdui sacrifice pits have extracted 534 pieces of important cultural relics such as ivory, bronze, gold and jade and nearly 2,000 fragments of broken cultural relics. The ivory extraction work in pit 3 and 4 has been basically completed, and the next step will be to excavate many exposed bronzes; pit 5 is more special, the circular gold leaf is scattered, and after consultation, experts have consulted and decided to carry out laboratory archaeology on its part; the "wooden box" of pit 6 is also ready for overall extraction; pit 7 has opened a small exploration party, and dense ivory has been found under the filled soil; pit 8 has found various fragments such as sacred trees, gold tools, copper masks, etc. in the ash layer of nearly 20 centimeters, and at the same time, a fragment of a gold mask has been recently unearthed , the outline of the ears and mouth is clearly visible.
