Maoming, June 24 (People's Daily News) -- From June 24 to 26, Maoming City, Guangdong Province, the first large-scale revolutionary original musical "I Wait for Dawn in the Dark" will be premiered and performed. The drama is set against the backdrop of the South Road Revolution and is based on the deeds of the martyr Li Ka.

"Our generation is the fertilizing generation, irrigating the paradise that will soon be realized with their own blood, and letting mankind enjoy all the happiness that human beings should have, this is the task of our generation..." The suicide note of Li Ka, a martyr from Huazhou, told "the original heart and mission" in romantic and beautiful words, known as the Guangdong version of "Lovely China".

"I Wait for Dawn in the Darkness" cuts from Li Ka's "student speech in Guangzhou after the victory of the War of Resistance to expose the dark rule of the Kuomintang reactionaries" to his "sacrifice in the last darkness before dawn", artistically reproducing Li Ka's glorious and great life.

The main creative team of the musical is composed of first-class director Liu Xingfan, director Chen Nana, Lian Xingcun, president of Guangzhou Academy of Literature and Art Creation, Li Xinhua, a national first-class screenwriter, and He Qi, a well-known composer. In order to truly restore history, the main creative team carefully consulted and studied relevant historical materials, and made in-depth field visits many times.

In terms of structure, the play starts from the real deeds of the martyr Li Ka, tells a revolutionary story that touches people's hearts and makes people cry, and at the same time adds the real poems of Li Ka Liu Shi as a creative element in the composition of the lyrics, so that the plot and singing section of the whole play can better restore the history of the time and the true heart of Li Ka.

In terms of stage effect presentation, the play combines the local intangible cultural dance shed to create unique dance movements, reflecting the local characteristics of Maoming. The play also uses holographic projection technology and actor performance closely combined, using modern stage technology such as sound and light, so that the plot is more tense, bringing the audience audiovisual shock and immersive sense of substitution.

"We will perform five consecutive performances in Maoming in the next three days." Wang Zhao, choreographer of the director group, said that a number of tours will be planned in the follow-up, so that more people can get a close understanding of the deeds of the martyr Li Ka on the stage and feel the revolutionary feelings of the martyr Li Ka.

"I Wait for Dawn in the Dark" is jointly produced by the Propaganda Department of the Maoming Municipal Party Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Propaganda Department of the Huazhou Municipal Party Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the Maoming Culture and Media Group. As Maoming's first large-scale original musical with revolutionary themes, the creation of this drama is not only a bold innovation and exploration in the history of Maoming literature and art, but also a key work planned by Maoming to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and carry out party history study and education in an innovative form, so that the vast number of cadres and the masses can draw strength from musicals while deeply remembering the red memory of Maoming city.
