It's not easy to make comedy, you need to know where the audience's laughter is. It is even more difficult to make satirical comedies, and how to unify the style of laughter and satire is a major problem. It is even more difficult to make political satirical comedies, laughter, satirical style, in the context of politics, it is easy to shrink the tail.
The South Korean film "The Upright Candidate" bravely made such an attempt. The shell of comedy, the style of irony, exaggeration, fantasy, in my opinion, laughter and anger are all points of view, and they have played a very good effect.
The film is directed by Zhang Youzhen and starring veteran film star Luo Meilan and actors Jin Wulie, Luo Wenji, Yin Jinghao and so on. The film takes the election of south Korean parliamentarians as a political picture, and the campaign of the number one candidate, Joong Sang-sook (Luo Meiwen), as the main line, presenting the audience with a picture of the so-called democratic political election.
In order to facilitate the understanding of the film, I combed the film into three stages, corresponding to the three levels of the deep soul of the candidate Zhu Shangshu: lost, turning, and returning.
Lost. This is Chu Sang-sook's fourth run for Parliament. The film begins with a campaign promo with the campaign team. With the help of her campaign assistant (Kim Moo-yeol), she goes deep into a variety of groups of people to solicit votes for elections, and participates in televised open debates with other candidates competing alongside them. Language is full of lies, behavior is full of deception, and of course, there is an improper exchange of benefits.
For example: she lied that Jin Yuxi (Luo Wenji), the grandmother who set up the Yuxi Foundation to make money by selling vegetables, was dead, in order to deceive the sympathy votes of the people; on the basis of the assistant investigation, she asked the people for warmth and warmth, showing kindness to the people; she pretended to be kind to her husband and let her husband perform a good play of badminton with her, reflecting a healthy side. In television debates, she has done her best to delay, avoid talking, and crying over issues raised by journalists and competitors about the corruption of the foundation and her son's dual citizenship; in order to gain the support of the congressional representatives who played a key role in the election, she drank and entertained with her opponents, connected with feelings, and did not hesitate to use stock market intelligence as a bargaining chip for the exchange of benefits.
It should be said that Zhu Shangshu has a very dedicated campaign assistant, who is meticulous and thinks about the benefit of the campaign at every turn. The campaign team is also very team-oriented. Congressional representatives are also very powerful, even if there is an incident such as candid filming, it can be quickly settled. Thus, the success of the fourth election for parliament has dawned.
Turning. However, the problem arises. Competitors have seized on the Corruption of the Yuxi Foundation and the withdrawal of scholarships that have led many people to drop out of school. This is not to mention, Zhu Shangshu lied that the late grandmother saw her granddaughter's words and behaviors, and even appeared publicly, which scared Zhu Shangshu and the entire campaign team into a cold sweat. Unexpectedly, Grandma even prayed and vowed, so that Zhu Shangshu lost the ability to blurt out sleek, rational, and lies, and became a vulgar, nonsensical, and full of truth alternative candidates, and the advantages accumulated earlier were lost. In order to get out of the predicament, the team hired a senior election consultant, cleverly turned the disadvantage into a favorable advantage, coupled with the help of her son and husband, Zhu Shangshu made the voters refreshed with an image of telling the truth.
Still, things took a sharp turn for the worse. In the competition, mutual digging of walls and feet, mutual integration of black materials, mutual explosion of privacy and other means emerge in an endless stream. Campaign advisers eventually got out of control because of the increasing scandals that Chu Sang-sook was exposed, and she parted ways with her and turned to competitors. The family's nanny also joined the anti-water bandwagon, working with a journalist with a sense of justice to dig deep into the black material of the foundation's scholarship. Like a firefighter, the assistant rushed left and right, but with little success.
regression. At the most critical moment of the campaign, Zhu Shangshu's grandmother's life finally came to an end. Grandma is Zhu Shangshu's guide to the political path. Before dying, the old man first gave his granddaughter a middle finger and then a thumbs up, the meaning of which could not be more obvious---- to be a kind, non-lying politician. Zhu Shangshu cried and shook her grandmother's hand, at this moment, the fireflies that symbolized the light of hope gathered at the altar of her grandmother, her lost heart was greatly shaken, and she was finally able to look at the election with reason, treat the voters with honesty and kindness, treat her own faults with the law, and take on her duties.
As a result, the original intention that made the assistant first decide to follow her to serve the people at the bottom was revived in Zhu Shangshu's body. She apologized to the victims of her mistakes, did not fear the threat of life and death, took the initiative to expose the news, unveiled the dark curtain in the election and bribes, and faced her own prison with openness. Eventually, The Young-sook, who had regained her original intention, regained her strength and made a comeback after her release from prison to start her own campaign for mayor of Seoul.
After watching the film, I really admired the courage of the Korean film to face all kinds of social problems, and also applauded Luo Meiwen's exaggerated, comedic, and good and evil performances. However, in my opinion, the inspiration brought by the film to people is more generally instructive.
First, the original intention is the most important goal. Everyone, no matter at that stage of life, no matter what profession they are engaged in, should always keep in mind their original intentions, and on the way forward, they must not forget their original intentions.
Second, keep the original intention to strictly prevent loss. On the way forward, everyone will face a variety of desires and the temptation of interests, it is easy to keep their original intention and lose their way, it is not easy to keep the original intention. Therefore, it is more necessary for people to have the minimum bottom line of being a person, keep the bottom line, and even if they are lost, they will not fall into the abyss of eternal disaster.
Third, it is even more valuable to be lost and returned. There is a saying that "the prodigal son does not change his head and does not change", "Put down the butcher's knife and become a Buddha on the ground". In fact, the truth is all in a "enlightenment" word. Not changing the original heart is firmness, keeping the original heart is persistence, and getting lost and returning to the original heart is the greatest enlightenment. Lost and returned, life is very different.
