On the evening of July 16th, at the Shanghai Symphony Concert Hall, the Summer Music Festival Student Festival Band appeared in a 95-member band, presenting mozart's "Don Juan" overture, Yin Qing's "Under the Brilliant Sun", and excerpts from "Fathers" commissioned by the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra to Yang Fan.
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra commissioned four composers to write four new works at the same time, and tested the waters to open up the performance copyright, and welcomed everyone to perform. The Summer Music Festival Student Festival Band selected Yang Fan's "Fathers" and became the first crab eater.

The Summer Music Festival Student Festival Band, directed by the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, was born in 2016 to use the holiday time to bring children together at the Summer Music Festival and live a "band addiction".
This year, the Summer Music Festival received more than 300 students, ranging in age from 8 to 18 years old, and after layers of selection, 95 people were finally selected, the largest scale in the past. Not only local students in Shanghai, but also students from Beijing, Tianjin, Chengdu and other places have signed up this year.
In order to provide special guidance by hand, the summer music festival is equipped with a team of conductors and teachers for the orchestra, and every day, the teachers will break up the band members, first arrange the strings, wind music and other vocal parts, and then carry out the final orchestra arrangement - students can learn the first-hand experience of orchestra playing and orchestra cooperation directly from professional musicians.
Xu Chuan, 17, is a sophomore at the Affiliated High School of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Because he likes the atmosphere of the band, he has participated in the summer music festival student festival band for four consecutive years, and this year he has become the second violin sound minister, and he shines on the stage, allowing people to see the less common side of a science bully.

In the summer music festival student festival band, there are many "old faces" like Xu Chuan, there are 20 or 30, and the "return rate" is as high as 1/3.
However, there are more fresh faces in the band. In order to radiate more non-music children and make music more than just the rights of a few, every year, the Summer Music Festival student festival band re-enrolls and trains from scratch. Shen Erxuan from Shanghai Nord Anglia Bilingual School is one of them, only 10 years old, a petite and cute cellist.
In previous years, Shen Erxuan sat on the stage as an audience, and now he sits on the stage as a musician, "so much a sense of accomplishment." Song Guoqiang originally thought that the children could not even count the beats, did not expect to be very formal, and some voices even surprised him, "Of course, it cannot be compared with professional orchestras, but I still follow the strict requirements of professional orchestras, the requirements are not high, they will decline, the requirements are high, they will pull up." There are also times when discipline is not so good, Song Guoqiang sighed, how can children always be inseparable from mobile phones? As soon as they rested, they went to look at their phones.
"These kids are so smart, so much smarter than when we were kids. I used to spend time at a drama school to do folk music, and the band got a mess. Song Guoqiang recalled that in his time, the school really did not have such a high-level student orchestra, which benefited from social progress and the music industry was also progressing.
