Wim Wenders, born in 1945 in Düsseldorf, Germany, along with Fassbinder, Schrondorf and Herzog, is one of the representatives of the New German Cinema of the 1970s.
In the 1970s, inspired by the American road movies of the time and his love of Westerns as a teenager, Wenders began to shoot his own European-style road movies, which laid the foundation for his future creative direction and began his wandering in the world of light and shadow. In his famous film works include "Paris, Texas", "American Friends", "Under the Berlin Sky", and "Until the End of the World", wandering and alienation have become the eternal protagonists of the film, and Wenders has also used these two elements to create a world full of poetry and emptiness on the screen.
Wenders became famous for his "travel trilogy": Alice's City Rover (1974), "The Wrong Way" (1975) and "Kings of the Road" (1976). In 1977, Dennis Hopper, director of the road movie Masterpiece Runaway Rider, worked with Wenders to make the magical film The American Friend. The film moves back and forth between New York, Hamburg, Munich and Paris, and the world becomes a mysterious space entangled between skyscrapers, subways, highways, and trains, thus exuding a strong sense of alienation that is unforgettable.
