The mayors of 7 counties in Central Taiwan gathered to show the strength of the Kuomintang ruling, and Lu Xiuyan was praised as the "leader of the central region"

Taichung City Government today held a forum on regional governance of seven counties and cities in China, where seven county mayors from the Chinese Kuomintang gathered together, and Taichung Mayor Lu Xiuyan said that the era of counties and cities fighting alone has passed, and Taichung cannot stand alone. The mayors of the 7 counties issued a declaration to deepen cooperation and promote the common prosperity of China and Taiwan. Seven cities in Central Taiwan are ruled by the Kuomintang, and Lu Xiuyan called for the establishment of a regional governance platform three years ago, which is unique in Taiwan.

Seven county mayors from the Kuomintang attended the meeting, including Taichung Mayor Lu Xiuyan, Changhua County Governor Wang Huimei, Nantou County Governor Lin Mingzhen, Yunlin County Governor Zhang Lishan, Chiayi Mayor Huang Minhui, Miaoli County Governor Xu Yaochang, and Hsinchu County Governor Yang Wenke. Seven people issued a declaration to promote deepening cooperation between China and Taiwan and achieving regional common prosperity.

Lu Xiuyan said that the seven counties and cities have not only fought side by side on six major cooperation issues and achieved common prosperity, such as joining hands to fight the epidemic, not throwing pots and accusations against each other, but connecting with each other, assisting in footprint tracking and providing epidemic prevention resources, etc., confirming the effectiveness of regional operations. She mentioned that next week, taichung City's Voluntary Local Review (VLR) will be presented to implement the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals for regular self-examination, so that Taichung City can become a sustainable development city.

Nantou County Governor Lin Mingqin pointed out in an interview that the DPP is in power, and the KMT's ruling counties and cities do not need much funding, but the regional governance platform in China and Taiwan can solve many common problems.

Zhang Lishan, the governor of Yunlin County, pointed out that Lu Xiuyan was the leader of the central region, and the original central regional platform extended south to Yunjia and north to Hsinchu. Yunlin handed over a beautiful report card in agricultural marketing and air pollution prevention and control, and she said that the obvious example of regional governance of Yunlin Changhua is to jointly control the turbid water stream to improve the dust.

Changhua County Governor Wang Huimei said that the China-Taiwan platform has reached 81 consensuses to jointly solve people's livelihood problems, make the cake bigger, share common prosperity, and especially the prevention and control of air pollution. Chiayi Mayor Huang Minhui said that the governance of the city should not be spat on, talking about the merger plan is useless, China and Taiwan co-prosperity, and even affect the whole of Taiwan, mainly society must be right and wrong and value, and strive to see a farther direction.

Xu Yaochang, the governor of Miaoli County, said that he and Lin Mingqin will soon step down from their posts at the end of their two terms, and they will certainly do their best in the future where there is a need in China and Taiwan. Yang Wenke mentioned that if China and Taiwan are good, Taiwan will be good, and it feels good to cooperate with each other to solve problems.

After taking office in 2019, Taichung Mayor Lu Xiuyan invited 7 counties and cities to discuss regional cooperation, expanding the regional governance platform of China and Taiwan from the original 4 counties and cities to 7 counties and cities, thereby expanding the scope of cooperation and governance capacity of central counties and cities.
