To this end, Guangdong is making every effort to open up and reduce the use of electricity, ensure the supply of thermal coal on the power generation side, coordinate the transmission of electricity to Guangdong according to the maximum capacity of Western Power, adjust the electricity consumption time of enterprises on the demand side, and stagger the peak of electricity. Experts expect that with the implementation of a series of measures, coupled with the cooler weather in October, the electricity shortage is expected to gradually ease.
Reasons: Coal price increases affect power generation capacity, and high temperature + economic recovery push up demand
The reporter learned from the Guangdong Provincial Energy Bureau that the recent staggered peak electricity consumption in the province was arranged at about 15 million kilowatts, and the current round of staggered peaks once reached 24 million kilowatts during the high temperature of the double typhoon. It is estimated that the highest unified load demand in Guangdong will exceed 135 million kilowatts in September, an increase of 10.5% year-on-year.
There are three main reasons for the lack of power supply in this round: First, on the supply side, the power generation capacity of units inside and outside the province continues to decline. Natural gas and coal prices are high, and the supply of resources is tight. Recently, the province's power generation capacity has dropped by nearly 30 million kilowatts, accounting for 20% of the province's installed capacity, which is the main reason for the recent shortage of power supply. The second is that the high temperature "blessing" pushes up demand, and the electricity load increases twice. As a typical temperature "sensitive" area, Guangdong's recent temperature has reached a maximum of 34 °C-38 °C, which is 3 °C-4 °C higher than the same period in previous years, and the power load will increase by 2-3 million kilowatts for each degree of temperature increase. Third, also on the "demand side", Guangdong Province's economic recovery momentum is strong, the social and economic development of the stable and rapid trend to drive the rapid growth of electricity, January and March for the first time in the history of electricity load exceeded 100 million kilowatts, the growth rate of electricity reached more than 30%. Government: Strive to ensure the supply of thermal coal in the province, and coordinate the maximum capacity of Western Power to transmit electricity to Guangdong

At this time, Guangzhou Power Grid for the first time through the "virtual power plant" platform, issued a direct adjustment instruction to the bus charging company, accurately reduced the load of the substation, instantly reduced the charging power of 80 electric buses, adjusted the bus charging schedule time, and ensured the air conditioning electricity of 2,000 households, making residents' good night dreams cooler.
Electric bus is only a microcosm of the application of "virtual power plants", and the load on the grid is between this increase and decrease, achieving "peak shaving and valley filling". Guangzhou will take out 9 million yuan of special funds this year to accelerate the promotion of "virtual power plants".

"According to the original plan, we planned to start the A-level maintenance of Unit #9 in early April this year, and all the materials and personnel for the overhaul were in place." In the first eight months of this year, Hengye Group purchased a total of 2.4 million tons of coal, up 17% year-on-year. He expects that with the two-pronged approach of open source throttling measures and the cooler weather in October, the electricity shortage is expected to gradually ease. In the long run, Guangdong has vigorously laid out new energy power generation projects such as photovoltaics and wind power in recent years, wind and light belong to natural resources, are not affected by fuel prices, and are green and low-carbon, and Guangdong is requiring related projects to accelerate construction. China Southern Power Grid plans to basically build a new power system by 2030, with non-fossil energy accounting for more than 65%, and new energy becoming the largest power source in the five southern provinces and regions.
