Today we take a look at the ninth region in the world today that is in the midst of independence: Corsica (France).

Corsica is the fourth largest island in the Mediterranean after Sicily, Sardinia and Cyprus. It is located in the southeast of mainland France, across the Strait of Bonifacio and the Italian island of Sardinia to the south.

Corse (French: Corse) is a region of France, formerly an independent country located on an island in the Mediterranean Sea (Corsica). With an area of 8,680 square kilometers and a population of more than 330,000, it was incorporated into France in 1768.

Corsica has a special status and enjoys a certain degree of autonomy. In fact, it is called the Collectivité Territoriale de Corse, not the general region.
Napoleon
It consists of two provinces: South Corsica (2A) and Upper Corsica (2B). The seat of the district is Ajaccio, the birthplace of the French Emperor Napoleon.

When the French think of their country, they are never aware of the existence of Corsica. Contrary to the Chinese and customs of the Fa, the Corsicans often have a strong sense of sending people under the fence.
Since the French occupation in 1769, for more than two hundred years, the independence movement of the Corsican people has never stopped, and political assassinations have occurred one after another, and no matter which French government has been tormented by it.

Ajaccio, the capital of Corsica
Located on the southwest coast of the French island of Corsica, Ajaccio is the capital of the province of Southern Corsica with a population of 54,000 (1982). Ajaccio was the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte I. The ancestral house where Napoleon was born has been set up as a Napoleon Memorial. In the center of the town stands a statue of Napoleon, and not far away there is a monument to Napoleon.
