On the 9th, as one of the important activities of the 21st China International Fair for Investment and Trade, the series of activities for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belgium and the investment promotion conference of the biotechnology industry between China and Belgium were held in Xiamen, aiming to promote the cooperation and development of China and Belgium in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.

Li Yong, deputy director of the Investment Promotion Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce of China, said that Belgium has advantages in the development of chemical, pharmaceutical and life science industries, which is in line with China's current direction of further development of the biotechnology industry, and the cooperation potential between the two sides is huge, hoping to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Belgium as an opportunity to promote cooperation in the biological industry between the two sides.

Song Lei, Deputy Director of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Chemical Industry of the Investment Promotion Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, introduced the "China-EU Life and Health Industry Cross-border Cooperation Platform". Song Lei said that the platform has established working relationships with 6 overseas industrial clusters such as The German Medical Valley, the Spanish Bioca Life Cluster, and the Wallonia Life Cluster in Belgium, helping overseas high-end life and health industries such as biotechnology and innovative drug research and development to accurately connect with areas in Need in China. Last year, through the holding of online promotion meetings, 15 foreign projects that will be implemented in China have been docked.

It is reported that Belgium is a world-renowned biomedical industry technology center, Wallonia region has the Belgian life science industry "Silicon Valley", GlaxoSmithKline, Unspe and Baxter and a number of large pharmaceutical companies settled in Walloon.

At this event, the relevant departments of the Walloon Region of Belgium introduced the market access rules for EU life science industry investment and the key investment industries in the Walloon Region online. Franck Toussaint, Value Chain Project Manager of the General Administration of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment of the Walloon Region, introduced that the Walloon Region is committed to creating a favorable business environment and hopes that Chinese enterprises will invest in the Walloon Region.
