Chongqing, abbreviated as Ba or Yu, is located in southwest China and is one of the four municipalities directly under the central government. First of all, geographically, Wuxi County is bordered by Zhuxi County of Hubei Province to the east, Fengjie County and Wushan County to the south, Kaizhou District and Yunyang County to the west, and Chengkou County and Zhenping County of Shaanxi Province to the north. In addition to its superior geographical location, Wuxi County has a long history and outstanding people, as early as the Xia Dynasty period, Dayu divided the world into ancient Jiuzhou after the rule of water, and the area around present-day Wuxi County belongs to the land of ancient Liangzhou. During the Xia and Shang dynasties, the area around present-day Wuxi County belonged to the Yongguo Yuyi. In the Spring and Autumn Period, the State of Yong was a high-ranking and powerful princely state between the three kingdoms of Ba, Qin, and Chu, with the capital of Shangyong (present-day southwest of Zhushan County, Hubei Province). At the beginning of the Warring States period, the area was incorporated into the territory of the Chu state.

In 227 BC, after the Qin state occupied the area, it was juxtaposed Qianzhong County. In 221 BC, Qin Shi Huang established the Qin Dynasty. Under the county system, the area around present-day Wuxi County belonged to Wu County. After Liu Bang established the Western Han Dynasty, the area belonged to NanJun Wu County. In 210 AD, that is, at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Wu County was divided into Beijing County, and the county was administered in the present-day Chengxiang Town of Wuxi County. As a result, for the region, the history of the establishment of the county has a history of more than 1800 years. During the Three Kingdoms period, Cao Cao, Liu Bei, and Sun Quan competed for hegemony, and Beijing County successively belonged to Badong County, Yidu County, and Jianping County. After Sima Yan established the Western Jin Dynasty, Beijing County came under the jurisdiction of Badong County and Jianping County.

By 568, Beijing County was merged into Dachang County. In 582, after the Sui Emperor Yang Jian established the Sui Dynasty, Yongchang County was abolished, and Dachang County belonged to the Governor of Xinzhou and Badong County. At this historical stage of the Tang Dynasty, Dachang County belonged to The Prefecture of Shannan. During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, Dachang County belonged to Ningjiang. After the establishment of the Yuan Dynasty, Daning Prefecture was established in the area of present-day Wuxi County, which had jurisdiction over Dachang, Xunyang, Pingli, Shiquan, Longhua and other counties. In 1376, after Zhu Yuanzhang established the Ming Dynasty, Daning Prefecture was demoted to Daning County, which belonged to The Chuanzhou Road of Chongqing Province. During the reign of the Kangxi Emperor of the Qing Dynasty, Daning County was withdrawn and merged into Fengjie County.

Finally, in 1729, during the reign of the Yongzheng Emperor, Daning County was re-established and was under the jurisdiction of Sichuan Cheng's envoy Sichuan Dongdao Fu prefecture. After the fall of the Qing Dynasty, Daning County was subordinate to Chuandong Province. In 1914, because the name of the county was the same as Daning County in Shanxi Province, it was renamed Wuxi County. For Daning County, Shanxi Province, it belongs to Linfen City and is located at the southern end of Lüliang Mountain in Shanxi Province. In July 2000, Wuxi County came under the direct jurisdiction of Chongqing. As of 2013, Wuxi County had a total area of 4,030 square kilometers and a total population of about 520,000 people.
