Ornithischiosaurus is also known as duck-billed dragon, long-billed dragon, sharp-billed green dragon, etc., the male is dark green, can grow to 23 cm, the female is brown, generally only about 15 cm. It is distributed in the South China Sea, the Philippines, Indonesia, Australia and other seas. Because males are exceptionally beautiful, the price is generally more than 5 times that of females. In trade, most of the individuals produced from abroad are juvenile fish of 10–15 cm, and domestic individuals are generally adult fish of more than 20 cm.
Many enthusiasts believe that this fish's long, narrow beak is unable to swallow large foods, and in fact adult ornithischiosaurs can kill small snapper fish. They also cause harm to most molluscs and cannot be kept in reef ecological aquariums. Juvenile ornithischians are easy to adapt to the artificial environment, adult males due to their grumpy temperament, after being introduced, there will be self-harm behaviors such as hunger strikes and random collisions, so it is recommended to buy juveniles. This fish rarely accepts artificial bait, and most of them need to be fed with frozen fish and shrimp meat. In foreign countries, some enthusiasts like to raise ornithischians in aquariums with stony corals, using their long beaks to eliminate harmful crabs hidden in the crevices of the stone. When the water quality is not ideal, the male ornithischian will gradually deepen its color until it turns bluish gray.
Two male ornithischians cannot be kept together, but polyculture of one male and one male or multiple males and one male is not a problem. They need a lot of room to move, because the fish swim around non-stop most of the time. When frightened, the bird-billed dragon would lie flat on the bottom of the water and pretend to die. If the aquarium space is not large enough, they will still pretend to die all day long until they really starve to death. It is recommended to be reared in aquariums of more than 400 liters in order to eliminate the urgency.
