Beijing, 21 Oct (Xinhua) -- In response to the so-called "EU-Taiwan political relations and cooperation" report adopted by the European Parliament a few days ago, Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said at a regular news conference on 21 October that the above-mentioned report seriously violates the one-China principle and has a bad nature and impact, and the Chinese side strongly condemns and resolutely opposes it.
Wang Wenbin said: There is only one China in the world, Taiwan is an inalienable part of China's territory, and the one-China principle is a universally recognized norm governing international relations and the universal consensus of the international community, as well as the political foundation for China's relations with the EUROPEAN Union. The above-mentioned report adopted by the European Parliament seriously violates the basic norms governing international relations, seriously violates the one-China principle, and seriously violates the public commitments made by the EU on the Taiwan issue.
Wang Wenbin said that the European Parliament should immediately stop words and deeds that undermine China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and stop provocation and confrontation. "We warn the parties concerned not to underestimate the strong determination, firm will and strong ability of the Chinese people to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity."
