In recent years, the number of British players playing in foreign leagues has increased significantly.
As the England national team progresses, Scotland and Wales also appear at this summer's European Championships, with teams from the continental continent having noticed that the UK has a large pool of skilled young talent and signed some of them.
Below we have listed 20 British players who currently play in the top flights of Spain, Germany, Italy and France.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Kieran Trippier</h1>
After getting a little disoriented at Tottenham, when Atletico Madrid bought Trippier in 2019, attention returned to the England international.
But moving to Spain was a fantastic choice. Under the direction of Diego Simeone, the full-back improved defensively while retaining his offensive threat of crosses and set-pieces.
Trippier made 28 appearances for Atletico's title-winning team in 2020-21 and has become Southgate's go-to defender for England.
Spurs must have hoped he had dreamed of returning to the club, but previous media reported that United were more interested in him.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Tammy Abraham</h1>

After being marginalized under Thomas Tuchel, Tammy Abraham was linked to transfers from numerous clubs in the summer transfer window.
Many expected him to stay at Arsenal or West Ham United in London, but the striker made an unexpected move to Roma for £34m.
Tammy Abraham has become a favorite of Roma fans. Tammy Abraham, who contributed two assists in his debut, scored four goals in his first nine games and will seek to return to the England national team.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Fikayo Tomori</h1>
It's been a brilliant 2021 for Tomori – even Maldini has praised his performance at AC Milan.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Chris Smalling</h1>
Smalling signed a permanent transfer deal with Roma in October 2020 after coming out on loan from Manchester United.
Smalling's time abroad seems to be full of energy, and few people will be jealous of Smalling's continued success in the Italian capital. But injuries have made his 2020-21 season tough, with the centre-back making just 16 league appearances.
When Mourinho arrives this summer, he will understandably be upset over fears of a position insecurity, but so far he has been Roma's semi-main player and even scored a goal in the European Cup.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Clinton Mora</h1>
After five years at Chelsea, Mora moved to Stuttgart in January 2020.
He has only played a total of just one minute in the Bundesliga this season, but the midfielder scored for England's U20 for the first time in a 6-1 win over Romania in September 2021.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Jude Bellingham</h1>
Yes, Bellingham is a star and Borussia Dortmund should keep him next summer.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Kinan Bennetis</h1>
Bennetis joined Borussia Mönchengladbach from Tottenham Hotspur Youth in 2018 and found it difficult to play in Germany.
The striker made one appearance in June 2020 and reached that number in the 2021-22 season. Bennetes spent a loan spell at Ipswich Town, scoring one goal in 30 appearances.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Riess Oxford</h1>
After years of shuttling between West Ham and the Bundesliga, first Borussia Mönchengladbach and then Augsburg, Oxford struck a permanent contract with the latter in 2019, reportedly worth around £2.1 million.
He made 24 appearances for the 13th-ranked bundesliga team last season, in a role between starting and coming off the bench.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Omar Richards</h1>
Bayern Munich already developed an interest in many British talents and acquired Richards from Championship club Reading during the summer transfer window.
After winning the main left-back position at the Majski Stadium, Richards has been in bayern Bundesliga fixtures five times and played a full 45 minutes in the 7-0 win over Bochum in mid-September.
He may be battling Alfonso Davis for a first-team position, but Richards has secured Bayern's number three shirt and is considered a hot rookie by the club.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Etienne Green</h1>
The only goalkeeper on the roster, Green currently plays in Saint-Etienne in Ligue 1, home to England's defeat to Argentina in the 1998 World Cup.
Raised by his British father and French mother, Green made his club debut in a 2-0 win over Nîmes in April 2021, keeping zero goals conceded and saving penalties.
The 21-year-old was selected for France at the U21 European Championships but moved to England this summer and was named to Lee Casley's debut squad.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Stephen Mavedidi</h1>
Two years ago, Mavedi made headlines as the first English player to represent Juventus since David Pratt.
The striker left Arsenal for Italy in 2018 but never achieved results at Juventus, joining Montpellier on a permanent contract in 2020.
In his debut season, scoring nine goals in 40 appearances is an admirable performance, while Mavedidi has scored two goals in four Ligue 1 games this season.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Levi Lukma</h1>
After playing for Crystal Palace and Leiden Orient, Lukmå moved to France in 2020 and signed a four-year contract with Troyes.
The winger helped Troyes advance from Ligue 2 and so far has made five substitute appearances in the French top flight in 2021-22.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Patrick Roberts</h1>
Roberts is still a member of Manchester City, which feels remarkable.
The 24-year-old will spend the season in France with Celtic, Girona, Norwich, Middlesbrough and Derby County on loan.
With only 14 minutes of football playing time, Roberts no doubt wants more game time to revive a somewhat stagnant career.
< h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Angel Gomez</h1>
Despite their best efforts, United were unable to renew Gomez's contract and were forced to terminate his contract in June 2020.
Lille quickly signed him and loaned him to Boavista, where Gomez shined. He scored six league goals and won two awards for best player of the competition in Portugal, earning him a place in the first team in Lille.
United don't lack attacking talent, but it's still not surprising that Gomez has made his old club regret letting him go.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Aaron Hickey</h1>
It's a shame Scotland already has Andy Robertson and Kieran Tierney, as 19-year-old left-back Hickey has really started making a splash in Serie A.
The teenager travelled to Bologna in the summer of 2020 but was only marginal in roles last season. He has played an even more important role this season and he has played seven games so far.
Before playing for Scotland's under-21 team, they beat Sarri's Lazio 3-0 to score bologna his second goal of the season. It's certainly only a matter of time before he continues to play for the first team.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Liam Henderson</h1>
Liam Henderson, a result of Celtic's youth training, left his boyhood club in 2018 to play for Serie B side Bari and has remained in Italy ever since, continuing to represent Verona, Empoli and Lecce.
This summer, the midfielder returned to Empoli and played in all seven games.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Fraser Hornby</h1>
Former Everton academy player and Scotland under-21 international Hornby returned to Ligue 1 side Reims and was loaned to Aberdeen in the second half of last season.
In the 2021-22 season, he has not played a minute for the club.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Gareth Bell</h1>
In the summer, Bale said it would be "creating chaos" if he revealed his next move after returning to Tottenham on loan last season.
As it turned out, the truth was not so confusing: Ancelotti welcomed him back to Real Madrid.
The 32-year-old has scored a goal in three games in La Liga this season, but a hamstring injury looks set to keep him out into the winter.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Ethan Ampadul</h1>
Wales international Ampardu is only 21 years old, but he has left his home team Chelsea on loan for the third time, this time at newly promoted Serie A side Venice.
So far, he has made two appearances – 1-1 draws with Turin and Cagliari – both of which received yellow cards.
The club have won just one of seven games so far this season and are likely to be relegated.
<h1 class="pgc-h-center-line" > Aaron Ramsey</h1>
Juventus' Allegri is depressed, with rumors that Arsenal's old player will return to the Premier League as soon as January.
