At the beginning of the 18th century, in the primeval jungle hinterland of the eastern Carpathian Mountains, in an ancient and isolated village, young girls were brutally killed at night. The smell of demons pervades the forest, and in the cursed land, evil spirits descend, bringing the most terrifying nightmares to the locals. Meanwhile, the young British scientist and cartographer Jonathan Green (Jason Flemyng) and Miss Rich are discovered by each other's fathers, and Jonathan, who is angrily scolded and expelled, embarks on a journey east with his attachment to the girl, during which he loses his way and arrives at the cursed village.
