British April Day Giant's Causeway

Author: M35****025

Located about 80 kilometres northwest of Belfast in Northern Ireland, the Giants Causeway is a causeway stretching for thousands of kilometres by tens of thousands of columns of basalt of uneven size that stretch for thousands of metres and is considered a world wonder of nature. In 1986, the Giant's Causeway was listed as a World Natural Heritage Site. Legend has it that in ancient times, the Irish giants had to duel with the Scottish giants, so they dug stone pillars, filled the seabed, and paved the causeway to Scotland, and later heard that the Scottish giants were taller and stronger, and finally gave up. But the Scottish giants heard this and stepped on the Irish giants' causeway to Ireland. The Irish giant was frightened, but the clever Irish giant's wife dressed him up as a baby. When the Scottish giant saw it, he thought that the babies were so huge, what happened to adults? After destroying the causeway, it was returned to Scotland, and only a remnant of the causeway remained now. Geologists studied the structure and found that this natural staircase was formed by the repeated overflow of lava after the continuous eruption of an active volcano. After the erosion of the waves, the stone pillar group is truncated at different heights, and the landform of the stone pillar forest with jagged height is presented. On the coast of the "Giant's Causeway", more than 40,000 such basalt columns are arranged irregularly and stretch for several kilometers, which is magnificent and spectacular.
