In 1972, the first Audemars Piguet Royal Oak was introduced, and just a few years later, in 1976, Patek Philippe's Nautilus was introduced. The new type of watch was officially born: a luxury stainless steel sports watch.

One of Tissot's watches, while less famous (and less luxurious), is Tissot's PRX model. When it was introduced in 1978, the watch also followed GéraldGenta's characteristic design features, such as an integrated bracelet and a smooth stainless steel case, but it was far from being as good as its style.

Now, that has changed with the advent of the new PRX 40 205, which Tissot only reissued more than 40 years after its existence.

Precision (P), ruggedness (R) and water resistance up to 10 bar (X), that's what the original PRX meant when it was introduced. Well, guess what, these are exactly the values you would expect in a 2021 reissue – in a more modern overall package, of course.

What remains are a slim case and a narrow index, which has a SuperLumiNova coating. As with the sports watches of that era you would expect, the distinctive, progressively tapered steel bracelet is once again integrated into the barrel-shaped 40 mm case. The strap also features a butterfly unfolding clasp with a putter.

As with the original, the new PRX 40 205 features a quartz movement (ETA F06.115) inside, although it is highly likely that Tissot will soon be available in an automatic version.

Tissot PRX 40 205 quartz is currently available in three colors: black, blue and silver gray. The first two models relied on a dial with a sun-patterned finish and silver hour markers, while the latter featured a brushed dial with rose gold hour markers and hands, which seemed particularly suitable to the zeitgeist of the 1970s.
