Introduction to some plants of the genus Bonsai Succulents
There are about 125 species in the genus Sedum, mostly perennial succulent herbs, rare shrubs or shrubs. The leaves of the genus Arecalaria, mostly single-leafed, and some species have pinnate or pinnate compound leaves. Most of the genus is native to Africa, especially Madagascar, and is now cultivated all over the world. The largest member of the genus is the Dance of the Fairies, native to Madagascar, which can reach heights of up to 6 m. The native plants of the genus Garano in China include Tainan Garano, Taitung Galan, Spoon leaf Garano, and Galan.
The most common genera include the rooting family represented by the stick leaf and the rabbit ear family represented by the moon rabbit ear, as well as various longevity flowers widely used during Christmas and Spring Festival. Most plants in the genus Garuda are relatively easy to grow, and the young plants have slightly higher environmental requirements, but the adult plants have better tolerance to adverse conditions such as sustained high temperature or sustained low temperature.
In recent years, more plants of the genus Garuda have been introduced to the country and become new favorites of horticulture. There are also some plants of the genus Garuda that were introduced into the country very early, but they were not valued because of their low appearance. The author has compiled a part of the ornamental plants of the genus Garuda that are less common in China as follows.
Fun Butterfly Lotus
Also known as the double flying butterfly, the seedlings born from the walking stem resemble two butterflies. The leaf margin is red and serrated , with a purple-red dorsal appearance under abundant sunshine. There are also heterophyll variants of kalanchoesynsepala var. 'Dissecta', the leaf blades are pinnately lobed, which is relatively rare in China and the price is higher than that of the original species. This species also occasionally produces a small number of air roots. The propagation method is similar to that of hanging orchids, when the plant grows to a certain size, new plants are produced by walking the stems. Butterfly lotus prefers a warm and dry environment, drought tolerance and semi-shade, avoid low temperature and waterlogging. When the air is dry, water can be sprayed on the foliage.

The flowers protrude from the leaf axils, and the flowers are drooping in the shape of a suspension bell, and the color is pink and white, which is very plain and elegant.
Edo Purple
When buying this plant, you will find that many times Edo purple usually refers to (tiger striped galancho). In fact, when it was first introduced to China, it was called "Purple Department". However, Japan later issued a statement saying that the name "Purple Style" can only refer to a plant of the genus Small Stone Jade in the apricot family, and the Japanese name translates to "Artemisia annua". When you hear such an ugly name, I am afraid that many people have no desire to buy. The appearance of the genuine Edo purple is not high, the popularity is not high, the tiger stripe gar blue dish simply occupies the magpie's nest, borrowing the "Edo purple" one, but it is very welcome. In fact, the two are different plants. Under sufficient light, the leaves and the "tiger stripes" on the leaves will be reddened, and the leaf margins will be wavy. The colors are radiant. In contrast, the genuine Edo Purple looks a little "ugly". The leaves are bluish-grey and sometimes covered with white powder. However, the tiger striped cabbage planted by the author does not have a white powder dense quilt, and it does not produce white powder after receiving light. The leaves are covered with small blue-purple spots or stripes, and the leaf margins are wavy with a hint of yellow. This species is easy to root, and if the air humidity is suitable, it is easy to germinate roots when exposed to air. In the conditions of insufficient light, the spots or stripes on the leaves of these two plants are easily faded, and the leaves turn green and not very good. Therefore, in order to maintain a beautiful pattern, try to bask in the sun as much as possible when planting. Two plants can tolerate slight waterlogging, and sometimes the rainy water accumulation under outdoor open-ended conditions does not have a great impact on the two plants, but the tiger striped cabbage will lose its leaves.
Palm beads
Foreign cultivators also call it "donkey ears" because the leaves of the species resemble donkey ears. Palm beads are sometimes referred to as tiger striped gargoyles, but they are not the same as those mentioned above. The leaf margins of this species are shallowly wavy and sometimes rolled upwards. This species is very cute in the juvenile stage, the leaves are densely covered with white powder, and the plant is compact and very cute. The main viewing period is also in infancy. Someone has tasted these powders and found them to be sweet, thinking that it may be sugar. The palm beads are very low in appearance, the leaves will become longer, the plant type is close to a large cabbage, the leaves are drooping, and the ornamental value is greatly reduced. If the white powder is very shallow or washed away due to rain, dark green markings can be observed on the surface of the leaf. The palm beads have strong adaptability and low environmental requirements, of course, sufficient sunlight and dry environment are conducive to the formation of white powder, and also have a protective effect on the leaves.
The propagation method of palm beads is similar to that of wide leaves falling to the ground, and many small plants can be born from the leaf edge, except that the leaf edge of the palm bead does not have bud seats, and it is not as "high yielding" as the wide leaf landing roots. Small plants that grow from the leaf margins will soon grow dense roots, just remove and replant. The newly planted plants do not need a lot of water and remain slightly moist to survive.
Zhu Lian
Zhulian is very adaptable and easy to grow. The whole plant has a smooth texture, glossy leaves, wavy serrations on the leaf margins, and the leaves and stems will turn red in color in a well-lit and large temperature difference. Zhu Lian's root system is relatively developed, and many qi roots will germinate. Vermilion grows taller, with leaves concentrated on the top of the plant, so it can be planted in a deeper planting container. It is generally possible to propagate by cuttings.
Julian
Tiger striped garoon
Sedum Kim
Rhodiola belongs to the primitive species, also known as the Dance of the Immortals. The foliage of Sedum is brownish red with a little fluff, which feels good to the touch. The back of the leaf is dark green to greyish green with a metallic sheen.
The leaf gold will become lighter after insufficient light or watering, and after receiving light, it can gradually return to its original luster. Rhodiola can be propagated by cuttings, but rooting is slower.
Silver Rhodiola
Silver Rhodiola is also known as the "Silver Taikoo", and some enthusiasts have jokingly referred to it with Sedum As the "Golden Horn King" and "Silver Horn King" of the genus Garland. It has been reported that these two plants can naturally cross. Silver Rhodiola is easy to grow in groups, and the leaves are covered with a pale white powder and a green background. Lack of light White powder fades easily. The surface is also linted with hairs.
Birds
Birds of Paradise are also classified as rooted in the family, and their appearance is more peculiar. The leaves are easily droopy and hook-shaped, with new leaves being green and old leaves brown. The tip of the leaf produces small plants like broad leaves that take root on the ground. Cuttings are also easy to root and have a high survival rate. It is also rare in China. The old stems of this species are dark brown, and the newly germinated stems are lighter in color. The stem is brittle and easy to break. Grows upright with few branches. This species likes plenty of sunlight and moisture, and a bird of paradise planted by the author has been placed in the shade, but the growth has not been good, and new roots have not germinated. After moving to the sunny outdoors, coupled with frequent rains, the bird of paradise grew better and sprouted many new leaves. After adult or group growth, it is more ugly, looks messy like a weed, and its appearance is low [Jishan Huayao].
Small round shells
This species, also known as round-leaved galactic, is a small plant. The plant is small and very cute, and the stem is relatively thin and weak. It's easy to group up. The leaves of the small round shell are blue-green, thinner, and shaped like cute little shells. Leaves may turn red in sunny areas. The color of the small round shell is also very beautiful, with yellow patches on the edges of the leaves.
