At about 12:00 noon on the same day, during the patrol and inspection of the daily jurisdiction, the law enforcement officers of the station found that a fishing boat had fished 19 seahorses (national second-level protected animals) and 1 ditchless hammerhead shark (protected animals under the CITES Convention) during the period of going to sea, and its behavior was suspected of constituting the crime of endangering rare and endangered wild animals.

The case is the first case by the Coast Guard after the Criminal Law Amendment (11) came into effect on March 1, when the "crime of illegally hunting and killing rare and endangered wild animals" was revised to "the crime of endangering rare and endangered wild animals". Because the behavior of the offender has damaged the ecological resources and environment to a certain extent and infringed on the social public interest, the station has invited the First Branch of the People's Procuratorate of Hainan Province to intervene in advance and discuss the criminal incidental civil public interest litigation to promote the restoration of the marine ecological environment.

At present, the case is under further investigation.
