"The construction of Yunnan Sport University will inject a 'cardiotonic agent' into the construction of a strong sports province in Yunnan, and will also vigorously promote the cultivation of sports professionals." The Surging News reporter learned from Guo Weiyang, a member of the Yunnan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, that during the "two sessions" in Yunnan Province this year, he submitted a proposal to "speed up the preparation for the establishment of Yunnan Sport University."

Guo Weiyang believes that the current economic, social and sports development in Yunnan has ushered in a very good period. At this time, the construction of Yunnan Sport University is also a good opportunity given by the times. He told the surging news reporter that due to the unique plateau geographical environment, Yunnan attracts athletes from all over the world to come to training every year. Training in a highland environment can improve the oxygen content in red blood cells and effectively improve their long-distance exercise ability.

Guo Weiyang, the first Olympic champion in Yunnan, announced his retirement in 2014. After graduating from Beijing Sport University with a master's degree in 2015, he returned to Yunnan to support the development of local sports. He also served as the vice chairman of the Yunnan Gymnastics Association, and has helped the Yunnan team to send two gymnasts talents to the national team.

Guo Weiyang introduced that he is currently teaching at Yunnan Sports Vocational and Technical College and serves as the deputy secretary of the school's Youth League Committee. Winning the Olympic title brought his career as an athlete to a successful conclusion. In the future, he will devote more energy to the development of sports in Yunnan.

In recent years, Yunnan Province has also continued to develop its sports industry. The surging news inquiry found that in August 2020, the Yunnan Provincial Government issued the "Opinions of the General Office of the People's Government of Yunnan Province on Accelerating the Construction of a Strong Sports Province", of which Article 15 of the opinions is clear, "Yunnan Province will improve the quality of education in colleges and universities' sports colleges (departments) and prepare for the establishment of Yunnan Sport University." ”

The "Opinions" make it clear that by 2022, a new pattern of sports development that is compatible with the economic and social development of Yunnan will be established; by 2035, a systematic, standardized and effective modern sports system will be basically established, and the governance capacity of the sports field will be significantly improved; by 2050, a strong sports province with socialist modern plateau characteristics will be fully built.

This year's Yunnan Provincial Government Work Report also proposed, "Accelerate the construction of a group of sports training bases with plateau characteristics." ”

In Guo Weiyang's view, sports is a huge and high-tech industrial chain, including sports events, sports rehabilitation, sports psychology and other projects, which need professional talents as support. He hoped that the province could accelerate the preparation of Yunnan Sports University to promote the creation of a "healthy life destination" in Yunnan.

"With Yunnan Sport University as a support, we can cultivate a steady stream of talents for the development of Yunnan sports industry." Guo Weiyang also said that at present, there is still a gap between Yunnan Province's investment in sports higher education and developed areas, and there is still a lot of room for improvement in hardware facilities and teaching conditions. After the completion of the establishment of Yunnan Sport University, this situation is expected to improve.

In fact, there is a shortage of sports professionals across the country. According to the Spring City Evening News, China currently has a total of 14 first-class sports colleges and universities, including public, private independent, junior colleges and universities a total of 33 "sports colleges", of which "university" is named after the suffix Beijing Sport University.

Guo Weiyang believes that the establishment of Yunnan Sport University will also contribute to the development of sports in the country. "Relying on yunnan's location advantages, the establishment of high-level sports universities can not only send professional talents to the whole country, but also is expected to radiate to Southeast Asia."
