On November 22, the premiere of a main theme film was held in the Provincial People's Hall, the film was called "The First Secretary in the Village", which told the real deeds of the first secretary in the village taking root in the grassroots, giving up his small family for everyone, and taking practical actions to drive poor households out of poverty and get rich. Directed by Henan people, starring Henan people, filmed in Henan, the film is based on more than 200 first secretaries stationed in villages, the story is vivid and touching, so that many viewers at the scene have wet eyes.
On a high-speed train to Beijing, director Kang Hongli happened to sit next to a man who was the first secretary of the village in the countryside. Along the way, they talked a lot about poverty alleviation in the village. The story of the first secretary in the village who clashed with his wife because a home phone call affected his work touched Kang Hongli. In April 2018, Kang Hongli wrote an outline of the story and reported it to the competent authorities to apply for a shooting permit, and the license was quickly approved. Along with the shooting permit, the Propaganda Department of the Henan Provincial Party Committee gave encouragement and support to the film, and this recognition and support injected new impetus into Kang Hongli.
Subsequently, Kang Hongli opened a face-to-face interview with the first secretary stationed in the village. During the preparation of the film, the director team spent more than 8 months visiting more than 200 poor villages and interviewing more than 230 first secretaries stationed in villages. 24 hours to follow, 48 hours to observe, just to more realistically and comprehensively depict this group of lovely people on the road to poverty alleviation. In October 2019, the 120,000-word script of "First Secretary in the Village" was completed.
Kang Hongli said: "80% of the plot in the script is real, and there is a story prototype. "The crew had planned to shoot at the beginning of this year, but the sudden outbreak of new crown pneumonia disrupted the original deployment and the shooting work had to be suspended. In March this year, the epidemic situation has not yet ended, and Kang Hongli, who can't sit still, ran to the frontline of the fight against the epidemic in poor villages to understand the work and life of the first secretary stationed in the village during the epidemic. On May 1 this year, "The First Secretary in the Village" started filming again. During the filming, the crew of more than 100 people often rotated in a row to catch up with the progress, and even stayed up for 4 all-nighters. After the shooting was completed, Kang Hongli traveled to Beijing, Shenyang and other places, and completed the post-production in 3 months. In September, the film samples were reviewed, and all the review experts gave a high score of 9 out of 10.
After the premiere ceremony, the Organization Department of the Henan Provincial Party Committee, the Propaganda Department of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Poverty Alleviation Office and other relevant leaders, film creators, business representatives and audiences from all walks of life watched the film on the spot. It is understood that the movie "The First Secretary in the Village" was jointly produced by the Beijing-Kowloon Evening News Agency, Henan Erge Film and Television Culture Media Co., Ltd., and Henan Chenxi Culture Media Co., Ltd. Qin Peilin, executive editor of The Beijing-Kowloon Evening News, serves as the chief producer, Kang Hongli serves as the screenwriter and director, and well-known actors Zhao Bin, Zhao Chengshun, Yu Genyi, Chang Zhetao, Li Danyi, Di Lingchong, Zhang Qing, and Ban Ning co-starred.
The protagonist of the film, "Party Diligence and Wealth", is the epitome of tens of thousands of first secretaries across the country, who have been rooted in the countryside for many years, and under the guidance of policies, have made earth-shaking changes in the former poor villages and made the poor people step onto the road to prosperity. The release of the film coincides with the end of China's poverty alleviation battle, and while telling the story of poverty alleviation and rural revitalization, it also presents a generous gift for the great victory in the battle against poverty and the comprehensive construction of a well-off society.
