Guo Hong was born in Dunhuang, Gansu Province, to a working-class family, the second eldest of three sisters, and her mother was a music teacher at a school in Dunhuang. Guo Hong loved theatrical performances when she was in school, and won many honors in school, city and provincial performances. Due to Guo Hong's own love of literature and art, talent and the influence of her mother who is engaged in music teaching, she unconsciously developed a strong interest in performance.
