The story of a pair of clogs
In the "Red Mark" Ningxiang Exhibition Hall on the second floor of the exhibition cabinet, there is a pair of old clogs, very distinctive, wide upper, heel is also relatively high. Clogs are very common in Hunan, because it is easier for ordinary people to wear this clog on rainy days, and it is relatively tall, which is more convenient to walk on muddy roads.
Although this kind of clogs is not very good-looking, it is expensive and practical. This feature is exactly like its owner, He Shuheng, the eldest of the thirteen deputies of the CPC's "First Congress", who has a simple appearance, but is willing to bow down to the rain, snow and mud to escort the revolution.
In 1935, after the Long March of the main Red Army, He Shuheng, who remained in Gannan, was nearly sixty years old. Xiang Ying, secretary of the Central Bureau, sent people to escort He Shuheng and the sick Qu Qiubai to western Fujian. However, they were surrounded and blocked by pursuing soldiers near the town of Shuikou in Shanghang County. Because he was physically weak, in order not to drag his comrades down, he resolutely jumped from the cliff and sacrificed heroically, at the age of 59 when he was sacrificed.
The clogs are silent, but they witness the majestic life path of the master from a doomsday showman to a revolutionary hero. In He Shuheng's revolutionary career, these old clogs followed their master to the South Lake, to the Soviet Union, to the countryside of Ruijin, until they witnessed the last moments of martyrs on the cliffs of Changting, Fujian...
The "Red Mark" Ningxiang Exhibition Hall displays the historical and physical relics of the people of Ningxiang who, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, carried out heroic revolutionary struggles and worked hard to build socialism, reveals the revolutionary spirit and mission contained therein, and attracts the broad masses of the people to study.
