A few days ago, some German media told the Chinese side about the cancellation of book club activities at several Confucius Institutes in Germany. In response, the Chinese Embassy in Germany responded that the Confucius Institute in Germany is a language and cultural institution jointly established by China and Germany, aiming to enhance German society's understanding of Chinese and Chinese culture, strengthen Sino-German educational and cultural exchanges and cooperation, and deepen mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.
At the same time, it should be pointed out that the planning and development of the activities of the Confucius Institute are always based on the full communication of the partners, which is in line with the common interests and concerns of both sides. China has always supported the two sides in building Confucius Institutes into a platform for a comprehensive and objective understanding of China in the spirit of "mutual respect, friendly consultation, equality and mutual benefit", and resolutely opposes the politicization of academic and cultural exchange activities.
